Talk:Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-7-1
Someone else will have to format this correctly for me. My group went into this battle totally blind and I did not want anyone else to suffer the same fate when I have knowledge of it. So here goes. As the title states, this is the information on the Battlfield "Behind the Sluices" which takes place at the area accessed via "Antiquated Sluice Gate".
I am purposefully leaving out all damages done while we fought this battle due to the great disparities between equipments. We finished this fight with 3 people with exceptionally good gear and skill, thus I'm sticking to the barest of descriptions so that you may form you're own opinions and strategies.
You have a 30 minute time limit. 3-6 People can enter. Buffs wear upon entry and exit.
You are faced by 4 enemies. 1 Elvaan, 1 Galka and 2 Humes. 2 are called "The Briars", 1 is called "The Keeper" and then you have "Mistdagger".
Spawned in this pattern from where Arciela stands.
None | Hume | None |
Elvaan | Mist | Galka |
The Elvaan in a white shirt (one of the 2 Briers), spawns on the far left as you enter the battlefield. He is blm. He has access to, and, uses almost exclusively Tier 3 -aga spells. I don't think he used anything else on me. He uses a sword and has access to all sword ws.
To the right of the elvaan is Mistdagger, a Hume nin. She seems to have access to all Katana ws. She did not use any elemental ninjitsu that I could see. She does frequently cast shadows and use the TP gain down Ability. Not having Ninja I can't recall what exactly it's called. It is erase-able.
To the right of Mistdagger, spawns the Galka (the other Brier) who is war and uses a Great Axe. Again he has access to all Great Axe ws. He can, and will probably, use Full Break and Fell Cleave. Otherwise, there is nothing really of note about him individually. He hits pretty hard, probably has double attack.
Behind the other 3 is The Keeper. He is Hume Sch and uses a Dagger. He casts primarily Tier 4 nukes, but has access to Kaustra. He can use Aoelian Edge.
Now that the the enemies have been individually talked about, I'll go into group behaviors. The enemies will go out of their way to skillchain with each other. When they are 'super tanked' if someone picks off an enemy and takes it away, or just pulls hate off of the tank for whatever reason. If the first enemy weaponskills, one of the others will turn and ws that same person with something that will skillchain with the first enemies ws. This can get you in trouble very quickly. In the event this happens and you do happen to be 'super tanking' any amount of direct enmity on the turned Enemy (voke/flash etc) will turn them back to you.
Arciela is present during this battle and she will help you fight. She will not cure you that I noticed. She buffs herself quite a bit and seems to use a handbell or some such. Since I was pld the entire time we were fighting I could be wrong, I was not paying her that much attention. She does, however, do a decent job at enfeebling the enemies and seems to focus on the one you do. She also seems to prefer a ranged approach and did not close distance between herself and the enemies. To me this is helpful because she will not rush the enemy and get herself killed. Keep the enemies away from her and you should not have to worry about her. It's also worth noting that she can hold 4/5 of the enemies by herself for about 2 minutes with no assistance before she dies. If she dies... you fail. Big surprise huh?
This was all the information I could get out of our 2 attempts. The first one didn't go very well because we had no idea what/who we would be fighting and what their abilities may or may not be.
Now I will say how we beat it. We took 1 Whm/sch, very well geared, lots of cure pot, up to date rare/ex stuff etc. 1 Pup/whm with Rigor Baghnakhs and Alternator and a number of other contemporary pieces, using rng frame. And 1 Pld/war,(that was me). I have 50% pdt, and lvl 90 Aegis, as well as full pld +2 AF3+2. (Abyssea gear). There were still a couple of instances where the whm would have to 'cure bomb' me. Fight went like this. Zoned in, whm casted Pro/shell 5, Accession regen 4, and accession stoneskin. I used Defender and put up phalanx. I ran behind the enemies so that they would all be in front of me. The pup came with. Once I had them all on me, we took down the elvaan blm, then the hume sch, the pup died between the 2. He got up and put his Automaton back on the Hume while he was weakened. Once the hume was down, we killed the Galka, who decided to full break me and hit me with all it's status ailments. Which between the pup and the whm were off very quickly. When the Galka was dead we took down Mistdagger. Was a very simple fight. Oh, Arciela was doing stuff over by the whm, Paralyze 2 and such. Since I have NPC's filtered I don't know exactly what all she was doing. Our time was right around 7 minutes.
I hope this helps. Enjoy the story!
Easy solo by melee RDM. Went as RDM/WAR. Go in, buff up. Put on your PDT set (did not use defender, didn't even use food). Killed the Keeper first, then the two Briars, lastly Mistdagger. I even wore normal TP gear instead of PDT after the first enemy died. Total joke of a battle.
Removed the immune to stun notes this was either changed or never true, Ramuh's Shock Squall stunned all four for full duration. AtrixWolfe (talk) 00:04, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
coldReactive's RDM Trust Solo Testimonial
Couldn't solo it as RDM99/NIN49 with Valaineral, Zeid II, Flaviria (UC), Ulmia and Kupipi. Because as soon as I started to switch targets for getting Valaineral to attack multiple enemies, three of the enemies started attacking me non-stop, and Valaineral would not use his AoE Attack to keep aggro/enmity on all of them whatsoever. I was the one who fell in battle, rather than Arciela. I was using the Weatherspoon+1 set and 2x Emissary. The Keeper (who has the most damage resistance apparently) did fall. --Coldreactive (talk) 14:12, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Tried doing it again but slaying the Galka "Briars" first. The Mistdagger proceeded to fell me within two seconds after. Again, Valaineral didn't bother to AoE. --Coldreactive (talk) 14:26, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Tried again solo with the same Trusts and gear. This time, I stood next to Arciela, I targeted the Mistdagger first and chose to attack from Arciela's position. She ran ahead and drew aggro of all the enemies at once, and Valaineral took aggro of the Mistdagger. Then I proceeded to fell them one by one, with the Elvaan Briars second, the Galka Briars third and so forth. It's a good idea to keep shadows from Utsusemi: Ichi up at all times. --Coldreactive (talk) 14:43, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
