TP Bonus
TP Bonus is a stat granted by some Job Traits and found on certain equipment which increases the effective TP value of your Weapon Skills.
Overview
When performing a Weapon Skill, eligible sources of TP Bonus are added to your actual TP and the resulting sum is used to determine the effect that the Weapon Skill will have.
- All sources of TP Bonus are additive.
- TP Bonus cannot raise effective TP above 3000. If the sum of actual TP and TP Bonus exceeds 3000, the excess will be lost.
- TP Bonus does not affect Aftermath. The level of Aftermath granted is based only on actual TP held at the time of Weapon Skill activation.
Effect
Both the type and magnitude of effect that increasing TP has varies greatly between Weapon Skills. The type of effect that TP Bonus will have depends on which type of TP modifier the Weapon Skill possesses. In game, this is reflected in the Weapon Skill's description as "X varies with TP". In general, TP Bonus will have the following types of effects:
- Damage varies with TP: increases fTP, a major component of the Weapon Skill Damage calculation
- Attack varies with TP: increases Attack for the purposes of calculating the damage of the Weapon Skill
- Accuracy varies with TP: increases Accuracy of all hits in the Weapon Skill
- Critical hit rate varies with TP: increases Critical Hit Rate of all hits in the Weapon Skill
- Chance of effect varies with TP: increases the Magic Accuracy of the additional effect of the Weapon Skill
- Duration of effect varies with TP: increases the duration of the additional effect of the Weapon Skill
- Radius varies with TP: increases the range of the Weapon Skill
- Amount restored varies with TP: directly increases the strength of the recovery effect
The magnitude of the effect cannot be generalized. See each individual Weapon Skill's page for the specific effects of TP on that Weapon Skill.
Eligibility
Armor and accessories that grant TP Bonus such as Mpaca's Cap and Moonshade Earring apply to all Weapon Skills.
Most TP Bonus weapons function only when using the weapon itself to perform the Weapon Skill, with one notable exception below.
- For example, equipping Fomalhaut or Fail-Not in the ranged slot will grant TP Bonus to Marksmanship or Archery Weapon Skills only.
- For example, equipping Aeneas in the offhand will not grant TP Bonus to any Weapon Skill, not even Dagger Weapon Skills performed with another Dagger in the main hand.
Trial of the Magians TP Bonus weapons are the only weapons which grant their TP Bonus to Weapon Skills performed with a different weapon. This allows you to equip them in the offhand or ranged slot and receive their benefit with a much more powerful weapon in the main hand. -No longer true, the Odyssey axe, Ikenga's Axe, grants the TP bonus it gains as it is RPed to a weapon in the main hand when it is offhanded.
- For example, equipping Ataktos or Accipiter in the ranged slot will grant TP Bonus to Sword Weapon Skills with a Sword equipped in the main hand.
- For example, equipping Fusetto +2 in the offhand will grant TP Bonus to Sword Weapon Skills with a Sword equipped in the main hand.
