I started combat against an Aht Urhgan Attercop and then activated a certain amount of wind maneuvers, I kept track of the hits over time. Cool thing about the Aht Urhgan Attercop is that it has double attack, so what would have been a 4 second delay between each hit now has a ~12% chance of each hit being immediately followed by a second hit, not even mentioning the weaponskill that also take up an additional 5-8 seconds of downtime between hits. So it's a little imprecise on when exactly you get the evasion boost over time, but let's not worry too much about that, shall we.

so we can see that Pattern Reader does in fact work as intended, it increases evasion by ~5% per maneuver (technically +10 since evasion is halved in the equation for hit rate). Do also note that the automaton gets +5 agi per wind maneuver (FYI: pets also get +1 evasion per 2 points of agility), so the evasion increase from Pattern Reader is somewhere around ~4-7% (technically +8-14) per maneuver.
Here's a graph of all that information, do note that the data is averaged to make it look readable. X axis is time in seconds, Y axis is the hit rate of the Aht Urhgan Attercop. Evasion does seem to increase over time, obviously this graph is very volatile due to my lack of data (this took me 6 hours to do). It does however show that time is an important factor. It seems like 90 seconds is about the stopping point for evasion increase? I may just be seeing things. I know the line of best fit shows that they all continue to decrease, but I used linear regression instead of curve fit, so that's probably why. I don't have matlab on this laptop, so this is the best you're gonna get for now.
I tried doing something similar with Heat Seeker but my automaton kept leveling up its melee ability and it capped out accuracy at 2 maneuvers so I'm gonna have to retry that one.--Koume (talk) 04:17, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
