The following general formatting information is taken from the Media Wiki Formatting Page

• It has been slightly modified as well as added to for some of our own unique BGWikiesque abilities.

Paragraphs

MediaWiki ignores single line breaks. To start a new paragraph, leave an empty line. You can force a line break within a paragraph with the HTML tag <br />.

HTML tags

Some HTML tags are allowed in MediaWiki, for example <code>, <div>, <span> and <font>. These apply anywhere you insert them.

Inserting symbols

Symbols and other special characters not available on your keyboard can be inserted in a multitude of ways. Many Operating Systems and browsers allow you to insert special characters through a menu option or Operating System panel. Additionally, you can use the WikiEditor to insert them into the edit screen.

As a last resort, you can use a special sequence of characters. Those sequences are called HTML entities. For example, the following sequence (entity) → when inserted will be shown as right arrow HTML symbol → and — when inserted will be shown as an em dash HTML symbol —.

Additionally, MediaWiki supports two non-standard entity reference sequences: &רלמ; and &رلم; which are both considered equivalent to ‏ which is a right-to-left mark. (Used when combining right to left languages with left to right languages in the same page.)

<youtube>last digits of the video after watch?v=</youtube> tags may be used to place videos on the wiki.

Nowiki for HTML

<nowiki /> can prohibit (HTML) tags:

• <<nowiki />pre>  → <pre>

But not & symbol escapes:

• &<nowiki />amp;  → &

To print & symbol escapes as text, use "&amp;" to replace the "&" character (eg. type "&amp;nbsp;", which results in "&nbsp;").

BG Templates

There are various Templates on the wiki, but some are specifically there for formatting.

Items Icons are named with the pagename with a " icon" suffix. File must be of type .png. Item descriptions are named with the pagename with a " description" suffix. File must be of type .png. Items which contain a colon must have two additional lines placed within the Item template Example: If the page was named "Example: A" the colon would be replaced with a hyphen for links to images. |icon=[[Image:Example- A icon.png]] |description image=[[Image:Example- A description.png]] Maps Named after the zone. File must be of type .png. Area with multiple maps will be suffixed with "-map#", replacing the hash with the map number. User Images Images to be used on personal userpages must be named after the username (not the character name if it is different) in the format User-Username.jpg. No Exceptions. Additional user images will be numbered after the initial, starting with the number 2. User images are restricted to a total file size of less than 300kb per user. Unlinked images will be deleted.
