Nobuaki Komoto
Nobuaki Komoto (河本信昭) joined Square in the late 1990s. His first credited role was as an Event Planner for Xenogears.
For the initial release of Final Fantasy XI, he was credited as Events Director and very specifically was in charge of Bastok-related events.
From Chains of Promathia's release on September 16th, 2004; he assumed the role of Director of Final Fantasy XI.
On July 25th, 2006, shortly after Treasures of Aht Urhgan's release, it was announced Komoto would take the role of Director of Version Updates.
On November 22nd, 2007, alongside Wings of the Goddess's release, Komoto once again assumed the role of Director.
On June 3rd, 2009, it was announced he would become the Director of Final Fantasy XIV. Following the game's terrible reception, he was demoted to Lead Game Designer.
On his design philosophy, he has said that he believes if player's are rewarded too easily, their motivation will drop. His influence during his time with the FFXI team was definitely felt.
