Talk:A Nation on the Brink

From FFXI Wiki

How many NPCs can die?

  • During the BC fight, you will have to cure the NPCs to clear out the mobs. People have reported wins with NPCs defeated, even the leaders; but how many, if any, need to survive in order to win the BC is currently unknown. - User:Septimus
  • Just finished this fight (Sept 2019.) Lost Zazarg and Romaa and still got the win. - User:Obijam
  • I let all the npcs die and there were no consequences. The leaders are hard to kill: they seem to stay at 1 HP until the soldiers accompanying them are dead. Zazarg was the first to clear his section without assistance, then Gwajboj killed him. Romaa and 2 cobras cleared their section next and fought Gwajboj for a while. I assume anyone saying you need them alive was talking about making the fight easier by having the npcs kill Gwajboj for you? The NPCs' immunity to Gwajboj's AoE would be very useful in an era before trusts. (Video demonstration: https://youtu.be/41Gyn6I50tQ) --Shynoe (talk) 22:05, 12 March 2022 (EST)

I let Romaa Mihgo and Zazarg die on my 99RDM with 117 gear since it takes forever to run everywhere, and the instanced continued as normal. --Coldreactive (talk) 23:06, 14 March 2023 (EDT)

  • PUP70/DNC35 solo with trusts: Rongelouts seemed to be the only one who needed help with his waves. Suggest staying with him, you'd waste too much time moving around between units. Healing the NPCs isn't necessary; they were immune to Gwajboj's AoE, only direct attacks can kill them so you'll want a tank. Romaa would've been up the whole fight if I didn't intentionally /retr Valaineral to see what happens when all the NPCs die. Bring a dispeller for Gwajboj's Protect and Shell, I used Disruptor attachment. Battle Dance was his only TP move, with 12y radius so even ranged trusts aren't completely safe. In my experience, he only did Invincible once (page currently says he can use it multiple times). --Shynoe (talk) 22:05, 12 March 2022 (EST)
