Talk:Forging New Bonds

Fight strategy - Solo RUN/DNC (I.lv 118)- Trusts Moogle/Ulmia/Joachim/Cherukiki (Though in hind-sight swapping Joachim for Shantoto might have worked better if she was/is smart enough to use only Thunder nukes)

Notes:

  • Spectral Floe - AoE Ice damage and Medium to Long lasting Terror (~10 seconds or more)
  • Scouring Spate - AoE Water damage + remove a piece of gear.
  • Melee damage will usually hit around 50-80 though I did see spikes of 120-150 when I was terror'd, unsure if related. His Accuracy is low.

Expect the fight to run onward 20 minutes or more depending on how good your MAB set is for Lunge. Your main source of damage will be your enspells(Sulpor) and Swipe/Lunge, as he takes severely reduced damage from every source except Thunder. You should keep Thunder Runes on the entire fight and use a Sword with a low delay. Ride your Lunge/Swipe timers as those will be invaluable to speed along the fight. Sanguine Blade and even Spirit's Within do maybe 10% of the damage they should, your best bet for WS is Swift/Savage/Vorpal though you'll probably only be doing those for about 200-300 damage.

Battuta can help speed things up and you can Liement the Spate move and recover a lot of HP(though it will still dequip a piece of gear) if you time it well. Over all the fight shouldn't be too threatening, the most damage potential is from high tier Blizzard Nukes and his attacks during your Terror as you will be unable to act. But with the above trusts Cherukiki never dropped below 1000 MP, it wasn't a difficult fight so much as it was a very long one. -- 23:28, 9 June 2015‎ User:Karbuncle

Alternate strategy

I went in with RUN/DRK, plus 5 trusts - Kupipi, Ferreous Coffin, Ajido-Marujido, Shantotto II, and Matsui-P, and the fight was a cakewalk once I got that group figured out.

The big danger in this fight isn't actually the NM, it's the heaps of apex mobs all around, so if you deviate from this list, be careful to check your chosen trusts' pages and make sure that they don't have AoE TP abilities, or multi-target nukes. Once you get that figured out, Shantotto II will do the heavy lifting with her heavily buffed Thunder I.
