Talk:Heroes Combat

From FFXI Wiki

History
Heroes Combat is a special event related BC which premiered in Japan, and then later that year in the United States during the 2005 iGames Tour for Final Fantasy XI. Originally, this BC served as a contest between event attendees, as a manner of distributing high price prizes. In April, 2006, Square Enix offered this BC to Fan Festival attendees as a fun activity, and part of the Live Quest prerequisites.

For those who participated in the Heroes Combat at the Fan Festival 2006, players recieved an in game item, called a Cordial Invite. Using this Coridal Invite, players were allowed to take their friends from their server to combat national heroes from the nations of Bastok, Windurst, and San d'Oria.

The Combat
During the original release of Heroes Combat, players were invited to participate using 6 premade characters. The 6 characters were of varying race, and were of the 6 basic jobs; Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mage, Monk, Warrior, & Thief. They were equipped with basic Artifact Armor sets, including Artifact Weapons, basic gear (+3 Dex Rings for Thief, etc.). Each character had maxed stats in its appropriate skills (Skill capped Throwing, etc.).

Prior to entering the BC, players were permitted to choose whether they wished to battle one, two, or all three national heroes simultaneously. The NPC combatants were Prince Trion of San d'Oria, Volker of Bastok, and Ajido-Marujido of Windurst. If a team chose to fight one hero, they combatted only Prince Trion. Electing to fight two heroes threw Captain Volker into the mix. And if a team decided to combat all three at once, Ajido-Marujido was there to provide extra difficulty.

Upon entering the BC, which at events was orchestrated by a Square Enix representitive, character's levels were restricted to Level 60, and their subjobs were removed. The arena was 15 minutes long, and at the Square Enix events proved to be quite challenging. Until the Fan Festival 2006, the only team who had ever won the Heroes Combat against all three national heroes was a group of strangers who met at the College Station iGames Tour stop, which named their team, "Sneak Attack."

Particulars
As stated above, players now, in game, have the opportunity to challenge the three national heroes at the top of the Stellar Fulcrum, with similar conditions. The BC is 15 minutes long, and players' subjobs will be restricted. Also, a level cap is placed on the BC of 60. However, the jobs are not restricted, so players may feel free to choose their favorite job to use. One person in the party must trade their Cordial Invite to the entrance of the BC, and this gives access to everyone else in the party.

There is no actual reward for participating in this BC, as their is no Armory Crate at the end. In fact, only sparse mid-combat dialogue offers any real story about the fight. The only "reward" gained from this battle is the unique title of "Superhero."

At this time, it is unknown where to recover this title, once you have lost it. The Cordial Invite used to enter the BC is also consumed upon entry, so players cannot reenter using the same invite, although the item still remains in your inventory, like a BC or KS orb.

All buffs do not wear upon entry. Food remained when zoning in, leading me to believe any buff left of food remains, much like zoning into other areas. Hya (talk) 23:31, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
