Critical Hit Rate

Does not look good for the Crit rate mod on this. Also, it seems it probably has a pDIF penalty:

  • Melee crits: 230~336
  • Hexa single hits (300TP): 377~469

I am using Canne de Combat +2 (D71) and had 51 damage from modifiers. Assuming capped fSTR @15 (the case most likely to underestimate an attack penalty for a comparison between the two crits), you'd still expect a 60% damage increase between melee hits and single hits of Hexa. It just barely makes this comparison on the lower bound, and the 377~469 represents over a dozen Hexa Strikes. I will have to parse the next round. --Byrthnoth 03:49, 13 December 2011 (EST)

Follow-Up

  • Atma of the Razed Ruins and Atma of the Gnarled Horn at 300TP got me no obvious non-crits at 300TP.
  • I was using Yagrush (Level 99) and Gambanteinn (Level 85) on the test server (both D74) and WSing at very low monster HP to try and get single hit Hexa Strikes so I could tell if they were crit or not and what their pDIF values were. I ended up with a range from 281 to 419 damage with 505 attack, Flame Gorget, 154 STR, and 161 MND against level 99 Bluffalo. If I'm doing the math right, this should give me 136 base damage.
  • Observed damage extremes were 419 and 281 damage, which fit perfectly within the predicted extremes. Hexa Strike does not appear to have an attack penalty. Also, I saw nothing that would qualify as a non-crit. --Byrthnoth 14:39, 16 July 2012 (EDT)
