Talk:Moglification: A.M.A.N. Trove
Not sure where the claim: "Effectively increases the chance at a higher reward by +5%" comes from? Translating the link doesnt seem to say that at all. Having 20+ of these does not provide a cumulative effect (even if true) to result in 100% chance of not getting a juice. I get this is probably common sense to some but FFXI math doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
re:User:Malkavius (1) Mog Effects are not cumulative—don't stack—it's either on or off, and only one is ever applied at a time. Regardless of the percentage applied, it's a one time thing, won't stack to 100% by adding additional Prismatic Chests (or any other furnitures for any other effects for that matter—they may stack with other Active Effects, such as Mog Garden Cheers, but let's put that aside since it's not relevant here).
(2) Although, you're right, the Dev Q&A forum translation only states « the probability of getting juice is slightly reduced. » whereas the Key Item description states « Slightly increases the quality of rewards...maybe ».
Looking at the page's edit history, 2% was written in by User:Funkworkz, then raised to 5% by a different user, in the first few days when this item and effect were introduced in Feb 2023. There's no reference to where either of those numbers are from. Those numbers are repeated here, but again there's no source or linked research (how could there be by that date in a day? would require 1000s of logs) and I assume folks got ahead of their skies, got written in here, and no one's noticed to correct it since.
Going back to the original source livestream, there's the picture on the slide introducing the Prismatic Chest:
▶ モーグリの応援:A.M.A.N.トローブ NPC "Greyson" IE 使用済みのオープを交換したとき、良いアイテムが少しだけ出やすくなる
« When replacing a used orbs, you are slightly more likely to get a good item. »
As well as the machine-generated transcript:
« 1:04:43 Don't get me wrong, to go a little further [to say more], it makes it harder to get drinks. »
Finally, there's the Key Item description in Japanese:
使用済みオープを渡したときに少しだけ 良いものになる可能性が…・・・・!?
« There's a chance that if you give away a used orb, it might turn out to be a slightly better one...!? »
That's all we know and JP Wiki states the same.
Conceptually, you can look at the Treasure Hunter page, specifically the charts and graphs, to get a mental snapshot of how the numbers might shift with this Mog Effect active--ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY since no one knows any exact details, but how the Devs might have gone about shifting the random number generation. For example, if Orange Juice is "Very Common", perhaps this Mog Effect halves the odds of "dropping" and has no bearing on the other "tiers," or it bumps "Ultra Rare" from 0.10% to 0.20%, let's assume UR is a fresh orb for instance, or any such number of combinations. Perhaps it's connected to how many chests were recorded opened in the "meta-data" of that particular used-up orb. Et cetra. No one can say for certain.
The reference to 5% should be removed from this page and the main A.M.A.N. page where it's also stated.
