Talk:The Big One (Quest)
So this quest is not quite as bad as it seems. The level cap is 45 as mentioned. I solod this as SAM just now. I did not have outside help, and Travonce did not need any cures. I brought 20 Hi Potions (but I would have preferred to have around 35-40), Vile Elixir, Vile Elixir +1 (but I didnt use it), and an Icarus Wing. In retrospect, it could have been better to bring a Scroll of Instant Protect, Scroll of Instant Shell, and Scroll of Instant Stoneskin. He fished up 1 NM on the bridge, 2 at the coast, and 3 at the pond. The 4th was the Flesh NM. I brought a Mikazuki, but my gearswap ended up equipping Masamune and it worked fine. I did not bring any other low level gear.
A little luck is involved during the entire quest. On the way to the coast he aggrod 1 bugard, and we only got 1 bugard that aggrod as he fished there. On the way to the pond he did not stop running. It is possible he might have if I let him get further ahead, but I stayed by him because I did not want to chance it. On the way to the pond he aggrod 2 bugards and 1 orc. We did not get any aggro AT the pond, but he started fishing before I got done killing aggro.
I used SAM SP when I had 3 things at once on me at the pond. The toughest thing to kill are the Ferrocrabs that he fished up, as they had a lot of defense. Enpi>Enpi kills them though if you need to quickly dispatch one if you have too much aggro. It also might happen to be luck on if he fishes items randomly or if everything is on a set schedule. I was happy when he fished up subligar instead of another NM when I was already fighting two.
The pathing he takes is indeed weird. He waits until you stand in a specific spot before he continues. Of course he does not get stuck when you want him to. Remember that the quest is mostly luck on what aggros him on the way to his destinations. Funkworkz (talk) 23:28, 27 April 2022 (EDT)
He's stuck! Ran ahead of him until he was out of view, went back and he was running again.
The original level restriction for this quest was level 40: the difficulty was already eased up a little. This is one of those quests where you can buff up before you enable the level restriction by talking to Travonce outside the safehold. Takes about 15 minutes to do the whole run solo so buffing as a RDM w/ Composure or from Trusts like King of Hearts would be helpful. The first NM has Soporific, take an El. Pachira Fruit if you're going to use Phalanx + Protect V. At the 2nd fishing spot, the Orcish Warmachine aggroed Travonce as he was about to leave. At the last fishing spot, he'll pull a Leech NM which will cause nearby leeches to link so it may help to fight the leeches early. --Shynoe (talk) 04:06, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
