ML20 MNK and ML10 BRD duo with Trusts
No comments here so I'll share my experience, hopefully something of value can be gotten from it.
Fought on Firesday (brilliantly noticed after the fact). Setup was ML20 MNK and ML10 BRD duo. Trusts were Brygid for MDB+D, Koru-moru for Haste2, Kupipi and Apururu (UC) for heals.
Bard sang 2x Fire Carol and Minuet. Definitely recommend Minuet over March, due to spikes being something to worry about. In retrospect, Scherzo would have made a great third song instead. Bard was /WHM for Barfira, too.
MNK had 44MDT available, plus Carrier's Sash and Shukuyu Sune-Ate for +50 more Fire Resist. All buffed, it was 44MDT, 387 Fire Resist, some amount of MDB on top of all that.
My initial plan was to melee in some MDT gear, and swap into FullMDT when I saw Self-Destruct. This is not a good plan. I almost died to 350+ spikes as soon as I engaged. You must full-time your MDT/Fire gear due to undispellable spikes and en-spells, the only exception is if you can proc it. Maybe this is only literally true if you are dumb enough to fight on Firesday, but take the warning seriously nonetheless. RUN and Aegis PLD can surely skip the prior sentence.
Wearing all the MDT/Fire gear made his spikes do < 10 damage, and Self-Destruct anywhere from 0-120 damage. Until it didn't.
The page says proc is "light-based damage and skill chains", but the only procs I ever saw were from my opening Victory Smite, never from the closing skill chain. Small sample size, though, and Victory Smite opens and closes light, so maybe it's on any application of a participating weaponskill. The proc will remove en-spells and spikes. This is huge, immediately shift into your full damage gear and go ham. I saw him stay proc'ed anywhere from 3-10 seconds.
We did 12 in a row like the above, no issues. All were stupidly on Firesday, as mentioned. However, the last one we pulled was noticeably different. His en-spells were doing ~100 each. Spikes were hitting for ~150. The first self-destruct did 1200dmg. The second one did 3200 and ended the fight. No buffs had changed. The only thing I could possibly notice is this was the first one we popped after 18:00. I have no idea why this would change the fight, but it definitely did. Be aware.
For future runs I'll bother checking which day it is, and run Fire Carol I+II and Scherzo. Or just bring my Aegis PLD which I didn't use because it's not as exciting as dying on MNK. --Raineer (talk) 19:01, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
ML30 RDM/BLM Solo with Trusts
Stunning Self-Destruct is key to this fight.
Trusts were Star Sibyl, Brygid, Amchuchu(who did well), Koru-Moru and Monbereux. Standard RDM Melee buffs using Enwater with the addition of Barfire.
On pop(after Amchuchu has the mob) Paralyze II, Slow II, Blind II and Bio III to slow mob's TP gain. Stand on Stun button and stun (never resisted)Self-Destruct. Used Sanguine Blade(so as to not risk a Fire based skillchain with Amchuchu) just after Mob's TP moves, to remain stun ready. Of 40 battles He used Self-Destruct only once above 50%(55%). Seemed to favor Self-Destruct once it was under 50%, using it from 1-3 times each battle. Was hit by Self-Destruct with mob at 25% after back to back uses, took 850 damage. Spikes landed mostly around 13 damage, as high as 35 damage.
Can confirm that fire damage promotes Self-Destruct. Tried one battle with Enfire(since Arcane have a weakness to fire). First TP move at 95% was Self-Destruct (was able to stun). Second TP move almost immediately after(at 90%) was again, Self-Destruct. Stun was down. Took 4850 damage ending the testing. --ShadeofSeraph (talk) 16:47, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
ML14 RUN/DRK solo with Trusts
I actually soloed this guy a good while ago as Master but no ML's for the Aurist's Cape +1. Then realized I never added it to the talk page until recently when I went to help a friend with it for his cape.
Trusts used Sylvie, Monberaux, Ferreous Coffin, Arciela and Selh'teus (Coffin and Arciela since they have the HP to survive more than one hit)
Use x3 of the fire resist runes, Barfire, Shell IV, Stoneskin, Phalanx, Aquaveil, Temper
I save Embolden for use with Regen IV just incase it hits the fan.
the /drk sub is for Last Resort, and the emergency Stun just in case someone his him with fire dmg and he starts to Self-Destruct.
As Run/drk with 119-III Epeolatry, this fight is basically a joke. Keep Foil on as much as you can, while working AM3 spamming Dimidiation for light After the initial buffs and popping, don't worry about reapplying Stoneskin, Aquaveil, or Ice Spikes anymore because you really won't have time. Keep Phalanx and Regen IV and Foil going the entire fight or as much as you can, even on perfect runs, you can and will watch all the trusts get 1 shot at the same time. but as RUN he only thing that actually hurts is the highly potent spikes especially with AM3 Epeolatry.
Soloed my cape before even getting ML's, and then went back at ML14 RUN to help a friend with his. While helping the friend, he was on DRG and neither of us even thought about the wyvern's elemental breath, and guess which element it used... FIRE!!! Volatile Cluster was still around 75% when the DRG and all Trusts dropped dead, leaving me all alone with it. Successfully pure soloed it down from 75% and buddy got his cape! --Kronikx (talk) 16:00, 05 October 2024 (UTC)
