Talk:Weapon Skill Damage

From FFXI Wiki
  • Weapon Skill Potency Bonus includes weapon skill damage bonuses on weapons such as Naegling or the hidden bonuses on certain Ultimate Weapons.
    • Naegling does not give Weapon Skill Damage bonus. It applies additional Attack per beneficial status to the wielder during ALL weapon skills at a rate of +1% attack/beneficial status effect. The problem with it being specifically mentioned in the "Magic Weapon Skill Damage" calculation is that there is no specific physical attack term making the bonus from Naegling completely moot. It does however have some other benefits for use with Magic Weapon Skills such as base attribute increases for any dINT/dStat modifiers, Magic Accuracy, Magic Attack Bonus, Magic Damage, and Magic Accuracy Skill.

    • I think the wording was confusing, and could be clarified, but the context was that Ultimate weapons give a special potency bonus to their specific weapon skill: Naegling has a +15% bonus to Savage Blade potency, like the Almace has a bonus to Chant du Cygne potency. Naegling is a bad example because as you said, it has another bonus. Kaja Sword would be a more suitable example. --Shynoe (talk) 03:19, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
    • On second thought, Almace wouldn't count for that bonus since it's the aftermath. It would need to be an effect like Tizona_(Level_119)#Hidden_Effect. The example updated on the page was Kunimitsu, but that would be in the regular equipment weapon skill damage term "WSD", not the weapon skill potency bonus. That's the difference. Not sure about the Nyame set augment being applicable for the augmented version of the bonus. This bonus is probably meant to be the aug version of the specific weapon skill potency bonus, like that on the Aeonic weapons Fomalhaut_(Augmented). --Shynoe (talk) 03:38, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
