Personal recommendations for this quest

I attempted this quest by myself (using Trusts) this weekend and found it to be very poorly designed. I was 60 THF/30 WAR. Here are some of my personal notes from the ordeal, which (hopefully) will help other players attempting this for the first time.

I recommend doing this quest at level 60 and with at least four (4) Trusts, solely to avoid dealing with aggro from most mobs, and being able to survive battles with high-60s mobs (many of whom link).

The Davoi / Monastic Cavern phase is extremely annoying. I found the below process least stressful:

  1. As a THF, get through parts of the Monastic Cavern using your Hide ability as much as possible.
  2. Talk to Sedal-Godjal (you cannot be hidden), who will (kind of) hint that you should touch the Wall of Banishing to the south.
  3. Fight the higher-level mobs on to the way to the Wall of Banishing. Valaineral (Trust) is useful here due to his AoE attack.
  4. Touch the Wall of Banishing, then quickly run back to Sedal-Godjal to get the Key Item White orb.
  5. Warp out or die at this point — it's faster/easier, as you can warp back to Davoi using a Survival Guide.
  6. Buy Holy Water from AH if possible (see below).
  7. Go back to Davoi and begin the "orb conversion" process in proper order:
    1. Go to (H-10) and touch the pool for the Key Item Pink orb
    2. Now go to (L-9) and touch the pool for the Key Item Red orb
    3. Now go to (F-8) and touch the pool for the Key Item Blood orb
    4. Now go to (H-6) and touch the pool for the Key Item Cursed orb
    5. Use Holy Water to remove the curse, or wait 9-10 minutes for the curse to wear off.
  8. Go back through the Monastic Cavern (in the same way you did above) and make your way to Sedal-Godjal, who will give you the Key Item Crimson orb.
  9. Warp out or die at this point.
  10. Go back to Davoi and back to the Monastic Cavern, this time heading to (J-6) to touch the ??? for the Key Item Orcish crest.
  11. Fall off the ledge/cliff and follow the path, which will eventually put you back in Davoi at (K-7), which is quite close to the Survival Guide.

The Castle Oztroja phase is also extremely annoying. I found the below process least stressful:

  • Don't bother getting the 3 passwords.
    • It takes less time to simply guess the passwords through trial and error.
    • You don't have to worry (as much) about the in-game clock; even if while guessing passwords it rolls from 23:59 to 00:00 (and the passwords reset), you can start over and not worry about any mobs bothering you.

The process then becomes a lot more streamlined:

  1. Map 1 — go to (A) on the map.
  2. Map 2 (A) — go to (I-10) to discover the lever combination.
  3. Map 2 (I-10) — go to (G) on the map, in the process using the lever combination on the Brass Door (G-8).
  4. Map 3 (G) — go to (H) on the map.
  5. Map 4 (H):
    1. Kill the mobs in the main hallway at (H-7) and (H-8). Why: the Brass Door at (H-7) has a fairly short timer; once you light a torch, you should avoid any battles.
    2. Light any torch at (G-7), (G-8), (H-7), or (H-8).
    3. Head through the Brass Door at (H-7).
    4. Release any Trusts. Why: due to physical positioning, it's possible your Trusts will not fall through the floor, resulting in you being alone and unable to release them. In such a situation, you'll have to log out and back in again to reset them. It's easier to just release them in advance using /refa all or by doing it manually.
    5. Touch the panel and begin guessing passwords:
      • Refer to the Possible Passwords chart on the Whence Blows the Wind wiki page. Trial and error takes less time than collecting the passwords, I assure you!
      • Write down each successful password, as you will need it during subsequent attempts.
      • Remember that the passwords auto-reset at 00:00 game-time.
    6. Once you've successfully guessed all 3 passwords, drop down the hole into the Courtyard tunnel at H-7.
  6. Map 4 (H-7) (Courtyard tunnel):
    1. Summon Trusts, especially Valaineral, who will use Provoke and hold aggro.
    2. Pull mobs into the hallway and kill them one by one. Some are level 74 and can be quite tough. The goal is to clear the pathway to the platform to the north.
  7. Map 4 (H-6) (Courtyard):
    1. Once the path is clear, make your way to the platform where the Yagudo High Priest (and 2 other mobs) are located.
    2. Engage the Priest and let Valaineral use Provoke/hold aggro.
    3. While your Trusts are fighting, quickly examine the ??? mark in the centre of the platform to receive the Key Item Yagudo crest.
    4. Warp out (if possible) or die.

I'm adding a note at the top that Rank 4 is REQUIRED if doing this solo because of the need to be able to flag the silver bell quest from Aldo. If someone can level a character and disprove it, great but I'm talking to Aldo now as rank 3 and the LB3 quest flagged and he won't give me the bell. Buffy (talk) 02:32, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
