Troupe Valeriano
From FFXI Wiki
Location
The Troupe Valeriano appear in the nation that is first place in Conquest, and are absent from Vana'diel if there is a tie for first.
- Port Bastok (K-8)
- Southern San d'Oria (I-9)
- Windurst Woods (H-10)
Every Sunday when Conquest totals are recalculated, they have an opportunity to appear in the winning city for a week.
Troupe Members
The performing members are:
- Valeriano
- lead performer and traveling merchant
- Nalta
- pantomime
- Mokop-Sankop
- harpist[1]
- Cheh Raihah
- juggler
- Dahjal
- fire performer
Each performer has unique dialogue per city, and has separate lines depending on whether or not the player is a citizen of that nation, for a total of six dialogues per performer.
- ...aside from Nalta, who always says "(I'm a mime.)" regardless of the current city in first or the player's citizenship. ()
There are two additional non-obvious members further away from the Troupe's tents:
- Nokkhi Jinjahl - bundles batched items into quivers, pouches, and cases for the cost of a Carnation.
- Added to the game in the December 15th, 2003 Version Update.
- She mentions she's explicitly part of the Troupe Valeriano - "I'm more of a behind-the-scenes kinda gal, not an entertainer".
- She claims that people call her "Nokky the Tree-shaker".
- Ominous Cloud - bundles batched items into ninja toolbags and shurikens for the cost of a Wijnruit.
- Added to the game in the July 18th, 2005 Version Update.
- It was unclear for a long while what his exact relation is to the troupe, though the October 7th, 2014 Version Update refers to him as "Ominous Cloud of Troupe Valeriano"
Notes
Modern Usage
- The services of Nokkhi Jinjahl and Ominous Cloud are less important in modern FFXI since Curio Vendor Moogle sells pre-made bundled items to players in possession of the corresponding Rhapsodies of Vana'diel key items.
- The shop of Valeriano remains the only way aside from resale via the AH to get certain Bard songs.
Quests
- Troupe Valeriano being made up of "five members" is the answer to a question in the Quiz de Vana'diel of the quest Nothing Matters.
- Valeriano and the troupe play a role in the Dancer Artifact Quests.
- Additionally, in ages past, Valeriano was one of the few ways to acquire a Ginger Cookie needed for the last of the Warrior Artifact Quests, The Talekeeper's Gift.
References
- ↑ datamining/analysis efforts revealed that Mokop-Sankop likely was intended to be a "bagpiper" and his attire (Green Beret et al) is reminiscent of this as well. However likely due to the complexity of implementing a model for a set of bagpipes, he is simply playing a harp instead. His dialogue for Bastok citizens when the Troupe is in Port Bastok affirms his choice in instrument: "There are plenty of bards around, but I'm the best harpist in Vana'diel."
