Types of Seeds
Herbs | Affinity | Growth Period | Trees | Affinity | Growth Period |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Wind | ~3-5 Days | Ice | ~13-15 Days | ||
Fire | ~2-4 Days | Water | ~4-6 Days | ||
Earth | ~3-5 Days | Water | ~11-17 Days | ||
Wind | ~5-6 Days | Light | ~16-24 Days |
- Note: Growing periods for each seed are approximate.
- Growth is affected by pot choice as well as time of examination and whether a crystal is fed or not. See the sections below for more info.
- For example, Tree Cuttings may be harvested in as soon as ~11.5 days when fed two crystals. When fed no crystals they may take ~17 days, ±half a day.
- When placed in an Arcane Pot with no crysals fed they would then take ~23 days, ±half a day.
Flowerpots
Each pot will have a slight affect on the yield of your harvested goods.
You are only able to have ten flowerpots combined placed in your Mog House. They are unable to be placed on the Mog House 2F.
- Purchased from Boytz, Bastok Mines (H-7)
- Purchased from Ensasa, Windurst Waters (North) (H-9)
- Purchased from Pirvidiauce, Northern San d'Oria (D-8)
- Crafted via Alchemy level 61 with a Fire Crystal and one Cermet Chunk.
- Obtained via the Strange Apparatus.
- Arcane Flowerpots have a longer growing period than other pots, but generally a better yield.
- Quested via Brigand's Chart (Quest), Zaldon, Selbina (H-9)
- Tend to slightly yield more than Brass, Earthern, Ceramic, or Porcelain pots with the same growing period.
- Obtained via Login Campaigns.
- Effects:
According to the Freshly Picked Vana'diel #54 Broadcast, no special gardening effect is present on the Mandragora Pot unlike some of the other gardening pots.This statement proved to be misconstrued.
- According to another post on the official forum, this above statement means that there are no special Moghancement effects with this item. Furthermore, it was confirmed that "Mandragora" related-items are more likely to be harvested with this flowerpot in conjunction with Gardening.
Growth
Each seed will go through the same stages of growth [1]. The time it takes to transition stages will vary based on the seed and when the player examines the pot.
If you do not examine the pot or feed a crystal then the plant will not move to the next stage when ready.
- 1) Initial Planting.
- Only options available are "Examine" and "Empty Pot"
- 2) Stem Stage. First graphics for the plant appear.
- "Dry Flower" (see below) appears as an option.
- 3) First feeding stage.
- "Feed Crystal" option appears.
- 4) First Growing stage. Second graphics for the plant appear.
- "Feed Crystal" option disappears.
- "This plant is growing well" or "It's doing well" appears on examination.
- 5) Second feeding stage.
- "Feed Crystal" option reappears.
- 6) Second Growing stage.
- "Feed Crystal" option disappears.
- "This plant is growing well" or "It's doing well" reappears on examination.
- 7) Flowers stage. Aesthetic transition only.
- Graphics change, moogle message changes.
- 8) Harvest stage. Plants are ready for harvest.
At the end of the plant's growing cycle, you will be given the option to harvest your plant. You will know it's harvest time just by looking at your plant, as they emit a pleasant glow. When you harvest your plant, your results will be placed directly into your Mog Safe, so make room, as you will not be allowed to harvest until there is room. Your harvest will automatically stack in your safe.
At any time the "Dry Flowers" option is available, selecting it will stop the growth of the plant and turn the pot into a decoration. It is not possible to obtain items if you go this route, but it will permanently stay with its look to decorate your mog house with.
- Note: Feeding a crystal to a plant will move it from that growing stage to the next. This speeds up the process, but affects harvest results.
- Note:Only tree type plants go through stages 5 and 6. Herbs will proceed from stage 4 to stage 7
