Magic Damage (Statistic)
Magic Damage is a new gear statistic present on level 99 (Item Level 100+) mage equipment starting with the July 2013 version update. This statistic uniquely modifies the damage dealt by magic spells by adding directly to the spell's base damage rather than adding to a multiplier which determines the spell's damage. Because of this, on a percentage basis, the overall impact which "Magic Damage" has on a spell's final damage will be dramatically higher on spells with lower base damage (low tier nukes, Helix spells, etc.).
This statistic is present in the highest quantities on weapons utilized for casting spells (staves and clubs), but is also present in smaller quantities on certain pieces of armor.
In the equation for calculating Magic Damage, "Magic Damage" from equipment is added directly to the "D" term before any multipliers are applied.
