There are Lucky Mouse(large) and Lucky Rat(small, following the Lucky Mouse) Qiqirn NPCs wandering in the areas listed above.

The Lucky Mouse NPCs will take any item you trade to them(this includes valuable items, take care) and reward you with one of the items listed below or one of the following spell effects:

• Protect
• Shell
• Shock Spikes
• Any En-spell
• A DoT(Dia or Choke)

You can obtain all of these items from a single NPC in any area:

• Snowman Miner
• Snowman Knight
• Snowman Mage
• New Year's Gift

News Year Mini-Quest

This mini-quest is returning from the 2007 New Years Event.

New Years Mini-quest NPCs:

• Bunta (D-11 of Bastok Markets)
• Jeanparmand (D-8 of Northern San d'Oria)
• Pyru-Copyru (B-4 of Port Windurst)
• Dilauriome (Deck of Windurst-Jeuno Airship)

Each nation has a child NPC(first three listed above) who will want a New Year's Gift obtained from the other event. Choose the option "give you something from my pocket" and you will obtain a Battledore which will be necessary for the next portion of the mini-quest. If you choose any other option, you will have to obtain another New Year's Gift to proceed. Repeating the quest after obtaining the Battledore will grant you various fireworks. Using the New Year's Gift on yourself will give various effects depending on the language the gift was written in:

• "Happy New Year!" gives fishing support
• "Bonne Annee!" gives

For the next portion of the mini-quest you will need to board the Airship in Jeuno toward Windurst or Windurst toward Jeuno and find Dilauriome who is standing on the upper floor of the airship. If you equip the Battledore he will request a sheet of Bast Parchment and two jars of Black Ink. Trade him these items to obtain the furnishing item Hoary Spire.
