General Notes
|
|
Throughout the entire fight:
- Will NOT absorb damage during the use of Slaverous Gale, Disgorge, and Dustvoid.
- Will absorb damage during the use of Aeolian Void, Gorge, and Psyche Suction.
- Casts spells roughly every 30-35 seconds.
Below 50% HP:
- In addition to the damage absorption during the TP moves listed above, now also switches between damage absorption modes based on the spell it casts.
- Casting a Fire spell will trigger magical absorption where all magic heals it until Stone spell is casted.
- After Fire spell, do physical damage
- Casting Stone spells will trigger physical absorption where all physical damage heals it until Fire spell is casted.
- After Stone spell, do magical damage
- Mode is changed after the spellcasting is complete.
- Between 50%-25% HP, using the appropriate type of damage during casting is acceptable.
- Switches to elemental magic one tier higher than it used while >50% HP.
Below 25% HP:
- In addition to everything above, now also absorbs all damage during any spellcasting.
Miscellaneous:
- While Onychophora does not possess innate resistance to Silence, he will continue to behave as if he was not silenced. Switching modes silently and changing the absorption damage type.
- Silence is potentially useful in a group however, at 25% and lower to limit healing Onychophora while it is casting a spell.
- Spawns Onychophora's Sandworm after any Skillchain is performed on it. The amount spawned varies based on the level of the skillchain
- x2 for a Lv1
- x4 for a Lv2
- x6 for a Lv3
- x8 for a Lv4 (Light→Light, etc)
- If a skillchain is repeated it will not spawn more sandworms on top of existing sandworms unless a higher level skillchain was performed.
- Will counterattack with Doomvoid, a 1-shot K.O. for your entire alliance, if hit with the same Skillchain repetitively.
- The same skillchain may not be repeated within the last five skillchains performed.
- Builds power for Disgorge by absorbing damage as well as using Gorge. Backup tank advised.
- Possess a unique TP move called Psyche Suction which is an unremovable and significant Impact style stat reduction.
- Possesses the Dustvoid attack, which removes all equipped gear on the target but does not inflict Encumbrance. Have a macro ready to re-equip lost equipment.
- Possesses relatively low attack power compared to other Reisenjima HELM monsters.
- Has approximately 453 AGI.

Backstory
Onychophora are ecdysozoan segmented invertebrates and prey upon smaller animals such as insects, which they catch by squirting an adhesive mucus. In appearance they have variously been compared to worms with legs, caterpillars, and slugs.
Inversely, in FFXI Onychophora does not need to rely on the mucus of it's Slaverous Gale to catch its prey. As it can simply Doomvoid your party out of existence.
