Radar
From FFXI Wiki
Overview
- The Radar is a feature of the compass that marks NPCs and Players in the immediate area around you.
- THF, NIN, RNG, BST, SMN, BLU are jobs that have monster detection on their radars starting at level 1 (available from Main Job and Support Job).
- This is possibly to assist jobs that SE intended to be in the puller role, to spot wandering monsters or new spawns.
- Jobs with this feature don't have it listed as a trait. It's a type of Hidden Effect.
- The outer edge of the circle is 20 Yalms (excluding NIN), which indicates the maximum range of ranged attacks and weapon skills.
- See Distance Correction for the distance-based attack/accuracy penalties.
- NIN has a larger compass with an outer circle at a distance of 25 Yalms, which is the maximum range for a ninja's ranged attacks.
- During combat, the radar can be displayed by targeting the log window.
- Compact keyboard: 'F' key
- Full keyboard: Numpad '+' key
- Dualshock Controller: △
- Radar animates into a hidden state during events, which technically includes all cutscenes, as well as NPC gossip and interacting with objects.
