In Crafting and Fishing, once a player reaches the maximum skill level of a rank (Levels 10, 20, 30, 40, etc.), they will no longer be able to receive skill-ups until they pass a Rank-up Test. In order to reach the next rank, it's possible to undertake the test two levels below your current rank cap by speaking with the Guild Master (Levels 8, 18, 28, 38, etc.). Synergy and Gathering do not have this requirement, and therefore no Rank-up Test is necessary.

The Guild Master will request a specific item and upon successful delivery will raise the player’s rank within the guild. All versions of the requested item (NQ, HQ1, HQ2, HQ3) are accepted.

With the exception of Veteran rank, the item can be crafted (fished) by the player or anyone else, bought from the Auction House, an NPC merchant or a bazaar. To rise above Veteran, all guilds, except Fishing, require the player to inscribe their name upon the item. Additionally, the purchase of a Key Item key item specific to the guild is required.

Important Note: However, please be aware that beyond Craftsman (Level 70), player's are limited to an additional 40 skill levels to distribute among their chosen crafts. These final 40 skill levels can be distributed across all crafts or focused on a single craft. For example, one Lv110 craft, or two Lv90 crafts, or four Lv80 crafts, etc. In other words, this means all crafts can be taken to Lv70, but only one may be mastered to Lv110, the highest level.

Synergy and Fishing are exceptions to the above, which may be leveled up to their maximums without impacting other crafts.

Exceeding the final 40 skill limit in one craft will lower the highest level craft by an equivalent amount. For example, if a Lv70 craft is ranked up beyond Craftsman to Artisan and skilled up by 0.1 points, the Expert Lv110 craft will drop to 109.9 because the maximum limit of skill points has been exceeded. Players can revoke their skills over 70 and ranks over Artisan for all other crafts by speaking to the Guild Master of the craft they wish to specialize in.

Rank-up Test items are listed on each crafts' page: Alchemy, Bonecraft, Clothcraft, Cooking, Fishing, Goldsmithing, Leathercraft, Smithing, and Woodworking.

In addition, Rank-up Test items for every craft are listed on each rank page below:
