Talk:Esurient Botulus
We've been testing exactly what spawns the chest for a few weeks now, since for some strange reason, our group has failed to acquire it multiple times when all the other groups we've spoken to have no trouble. Here are our findings:
All party members being on the hate list is not necessary. We've failed to get it when everyone is on the hate list, and succeeded when some people aren't.
All party members might need to be within 10 yalms of the botulus on death. We have consistently failed to get it when one or more people are outside of that range.
Abyssea proc rules do not count here. You can get the chest when killing it during a spell or TP move.
The majority of the damage on the Botulus must be weaponskill damage. We have consistently failed to get it when the Botulus takes significant spell damage.
The final hit must be a weaponskill from behind. This might be related to the previous finding. Our next battery of tests will examine this part.
We're consistently getting the chest by having our spellcasters not contribute damage while our other members beat it down with weaponskills, and then kill it with a weaponskill from behind while everyone is within 10 yalms.--Inept (talk) 13:04, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- Excellent, seems to largely conform with the non-empirical observation I have noticed so far.--Spicyryan (talk) 15:16, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
