Felt frisky so I threw on my magic evasion set on BLU (no trait set) without vex or attunement and completely resisted Gardez. --Spicyryan (talk) 00:21, 21 March 2017 (EDT)

Prophylaxis allows Ou to recover to 22% health and begins the 30 second timer. During this period, he also takes alot more damage from skillchains.
As an example, closing a light skillchain with a 23246 ws dealt 21519 light damage normally during the fight.
During prophylaxis, closing a light skillchain with similar ws damage dealt the following:
- 25650 resolution closing skillchain → 91059 light skillchain
- 23104 resolution closing skillchain → 82037 light skillchain
both doing 3.55x the ws damage. Normally it would do ~0.9x the ws damage otherwise for light skillchains.
Multistepping is an easy way to destroy Ou rapidly.
And I'm 100% sure on the 22% since I've done Ou too many times now. I've even taken him down as low as 7% due to a radiance skillchain, and he will always bounce back up to 22%. Rehn (talk) 23:07, 7 March 2018 (EST)
This is an simple fight, easier than every other caturae except perhaps Gin. PUP (any other tank) SMN SMN GEO COR. Use auto to eat the mechanics, slow and steady summoner dps with Volt Strike. Often Unfaltering Bravado will be eaten by Ramuh after Ebullient Nullification as Ou takes dramatically-increased damage, just like Fu. We use one SMN Apogee, other SMN AF/AC, GEO either Blaze of Glory or Bolster once Ou goes back to 22% HP. Sometimes he can be killed without even using Prophylaxis. Darksday he'll Meteor so you may want a white mage under those circumstances. --Safiyyah (talk) 23:30, 18 March 2019 (EDT)
3-manned RUN/GEO/SMN (assume REMA's) 35 mins - no trusts needed. During Prophylaxis, use Bolster and AFAC volt strike plus RUN's SP to ensure Ramuh survives. --Pve (talk) 3:30, 13 October 2020 (EDT)
Prophylaxis effects
Just as an added note, if the party does not beat Ou within the 30 seconds after Prophylaxis is used, the entire fight is restarted, Ou will re-use all of his abilities again, and you will be stripped of all of your buffs to restart the fight. As an added annoyance, if you fail to defeat him during that 30 second window and you happen to have a Summoner or another pet-job actively engaged on Ou, upon reset everyone will resume to their starting positions, but the avatar/pet will continue attacking Ou at the start of the new fight. This can be very dangerous if your group is not prepared to start the fight right away as you will have no buffs and be out of position slightly. Also, the timers on your abilities will not be reset the same as Ou, so if you used SPs during the previous battle and failed to vanquish in time, you won't have it for the 2nd go round. Plan accordingly. ----Buukki (talk) 10:36, 13 June 2018 (EDT)
Just had the strangest Ou kill I've ever seen. Prophylaxis was used and then *immediately* procced within 3 seconds, restarting the fight. Ou did not jump up to 100, and instead was regenerating rapidly as if we had simply lost aggro, and we still had full buffs on the party. On pull at 42%, Ou rapidly cycled through every mechanic one after the other, from Ebullient through Target (despite being above 30%). It waited until 15% to Gardez again, and the next prophylaxis had enough of a window to finish the kill. The only peculiarity we could think of to cause it was that there were a number of people still under Terror from Gardez when Prophylaxis was used the first time. They still had Terror after the white screen. --Inept (talk) 17:27, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
Ou Farming Data
- All runs with TH4 or better and mailing drops back to self
- Presumed to be similar to other Caturae bosses where the extremely rare piece (VR) is tested for first and the remaining items form a second pool.
- Was fairly close to flat distribution for everything but rings/earrings for us. --Prismfang (talk) 22:08, 8 June 2019 (EDT)
