Talk:The Voracious Resurgence Mission 11-2
- Chaos is highly susceptible to Sudden Lunge and will outright prevent the phase change where the two npcs turn into fetters and the other ghosts start to trickle in. You can just kill him without that ever happening.
- Just tested this and while sudden lunge does work very well, it doesn't appear that you can skip phase 2. Our BLU kept the boss stun locked during the first phase and we quickly got him down to 1%, at which point he took 0 damage from all attacks, even from Prime weapons. About 5-10 seconds later, he healed and phase 2 started. Beaven (talk)
- This might not be true any more after the June 2023 update. The update notes say "The issue in The Voracious Resurgence wherein certain NPC and monster behavior could be skipped during the final battle."--14:02, 12 June 2023 (edit) (undo)

DUO PLD + PUP
We both used DNC sub jobs for haste and self healing since chaos absorbs all the mp.
Trusts: Arciela II Iroha II were a must. All rest, Whms and rdms (you can resummon trust even if you have hate or engaged) Apply physical damage on Chaos normally until he enters into his second phase.
At that moment:
PLD: hold Chaos while the PUP takes care of the fetters (make sure to hold him away from fetters as much as possible so PUP doesnt recieve AOE dmg from him),
PUP: AUTOMATON: Valoredge (head and frame). Will need 3-4 oils and Light Maneuver x1 to keep your pet alive. Also used fire and wind maneuver. Your Automaton + Iroha II and Arciela II are the main source of damage to kill fetters asap. They will do skillchain + mb so, they will be death fast. Also used Shijin spiral as main ws to add dmg to the job.
If the Healing trusts die re-summon, any mage who can heal is fine to get by. If Iroha II and Arciela II die, try to re summon them or any good Heavy DD that you think can do enought dps to make this done faster.
After killing all fetters, engage Chaos to send Iroha and Arciela to do some dps. Pop PUP SP x2 and continue like this until Chaos finally dies. -- 17:13, 23 June 2024 (edit) (undo) Diosax
SOLO BLU
BLU/RUN ML31 with Caliburnus and Malignance set. Used Selh'teus, Arciela, Cornelia, Sylvie(U), Monberaux. Used Evasion and Magic Evasion food (Serving of popotoes con queso). Fully buffed with barthunder, barparalyse and Lux rune. I used the Caliburnus sword for the whole fight and still doing 30-35k Savage Blade WS. Tried to keep all buff at first but he dispel a lot and ended up simply keeping HasteII, Cocoon, Tusk, Barthunder and Nature at least. White Wind kit was needed a couple of time to avoid trust dying too fast, because they did a lot !! I recalled at least 2-3 time each trust. Sudden Lunge do buy some time, Magic Hammer landed with limited MP return (500MP) but still Selh'teus and Monberaux was keeping my MP at proper level. Used a couple of remedy to remove silence. Should have set and try Silent Storm on this one. Always tried to get back Monberaux, Selh'teus or Arciela in priority for help on heal and focus on damage. Challenging fight and I got down to red HP 2-3 times. --LordAttilas (talk) 10:44, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
BLU/DRG + GEO/WHM
2box, both ML21, mostly pre-Omen gear with a few updates. GEO used Vex+Frailty, entrusted Fury at start of phase 2, helped clear fetters but otherwise mostly bubbles/erase/-na/occasional curaga. BLU used Erratic Flutter, N.Meditation, Magic Fruit, Blank Gaze, Sweeping Gouge, Diffusion+MG at start of phase 2, and occasionally Magic Barrier. Might've gone DNC+BRD if I'd understood the fight better to start. Cornelia, Selh'teus, Arciela, Apururu. Misc notes:
- Tank/main DD should fight with their back to the broken steps behind where Chaos spawns to mitigate knockback (conal?) and avoid fetter -meva aura. Anyone not taking hate fights from behind and can avoid some AoE from this position + clears fetters. Hybrid gear is helpful to mitigate faster spells/TP moves.
- Casts all Absorb spells, various debuff -gas, -ga IV, Impact, Meteor (second phase), Mighty Guard, and the hybrid elemental BLU abilities. Uses Chainspell. Meva+resist gear works well to mitigate debuffs. Repeated stuns had reduced duration but never saw a resist.
- Full dispel does wipe food
- Fetter -DT may stack, positions are predetermined
- Chaos may clear one or more debuffs on certain/any TP move use? Noted Sweeping Gouge wearing early aligned with TP move usage on a couple uses.
- Black Sanctus is an unremovable 5? count Doom that ticks down by 1 each subsequent time he uses it. NPCs will tank application/one count of it for you. Possibly used on a timer if you don't kill fast enough to trigger scripted HP% use.
- Trusts with AoE HP/MP restore abilities make contending with constant AoE damage + whatever ability reduces MP significantly easier. Arciela also nice for para, addle, dispel. Don't have Monberaux but probably works well here.
Two DDs or DD+BRD/COR should make short work of him with the right trusts and is significantly faster than solo DD due to the fetters. Chaos doesn't have much HP, dies very quickly with fetters down and would explode to anyone with even moderately upgraded Odyssey gear. More messy than difficult, but could get unlucky with debuffs and AoE damage. EP is not lost on death so there's no meaningful penalty for failure, just head back and try again.
Aside: both characters swapped off Prime weapons to fight Garazu-Horeizu. I noted an absurdly long Sleep debuff active when they exited the first BC. Primes are not required while fighting him but there's definitely something in that fight that intends for you to have them equipped. Mavii (talk) 19:04, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
