BLU Burn
Easy fight with a RDM, GEO, BLU, BLU with Apururu (UC) and August trusts.
- BLUs should gear for nuking and set light nukes. Personally I set all of them so I could spam all of them.
- For reference these are Magic Hammer (works to restore MP and will be needed obviously), Blinding Fulgor, Retinal Glare, Rail Cannon, and Diffusion Ray.
- Either target the add(s) or face appropriately to hit both with the conal nukes.
- Niburu clubs with good melee gear are a boon as you can Flash Nova his face in.
- Behold the power of your Weatherspoon Ring!
GEO does magical stuffs, RDM does RDM stuffs. --Spicyryan (talk) 02:11, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
You can also just take BLU, idris GEO, Amchuchu, and trusts then laugh at him as lolIdrisEZgaemizEZ --Spicyryan (talk) 03:00, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
The above strategy works absolutely fine now for a BLU solo with trusts. Just don't stand in front and get doomed like a noob, keep a DT set on hand for terror, and you're in hardly any danger. --Mudcake (talk) 09:26, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
Light skillchain destroys Yilan in seconds, easy win in 2017. --Speedy
WATCH OUT! LIGHT SKILLCHAIN! ALMOST LIKE ITS 2015 ALL OVER AGAIN! --Spicyryan (talk) 01:04, 18 February 2017 (EST)
Attempted to BLU it up with /RDM and trusts, got him to 10% and got a little overwhelmed keeping up on adds. Would likely be doable on a repeat attempt, as I've never tried him before. However, my second attempt I decided to check out /war and spamming CDC, which netted a fairly easy win, with trusts. 1200JP gift/decent gear (Hep. Sapara +1, a mix of ambu+1/gear from t1 ru'aun/reisen, HTMB, no omen, no +1 abjuration gear) --Ulgar (talk) 20:25, 1 November 2018 (EDT)
BLM Burn
Easy fight with a SCH, BLM, August, Amchuchu, Apururu, & Anything(2nd WHM trust suggested)
- Use Fusion and burst with Fire.
- Takes 2-3 Fusions to kill him.
- Have the popper cast for hate on pet, this way WHMs can pull hate with cure
- The pet should pop when Yilan is around 20% HP. One more Fusion will kill him.
This requires a strong BLM. Well, but not excellent, augmented Merlinic gear, Lathi, and all the proper accessories. If you need a lathi, basically, hop off of BLM and then hop on SCH and invite a strong BLM friend to help you. This does not require stratagem recast gifts or any JP on SCH. Firestorm1 is enough for a good BLM here. Maybe someday I'll make a commentary video for lowmanning this ;)
Solo
Very Easy solo for RNG/NIN with Trusts.
Moderately difficult for solo RNG/NIN without trusts.
Here is a video without trusts:

PUP Solo
Very Easy PUP/DNC Su5 Master Level 20 Zeid II and Shantotto for Light MB. After that whatever makes you feel good for support. I used Apururu and Koru-Moru and Selh'teus for AOE heals when he gets annoying. He once Terrorized me for over a minute.
Automaton setup: Valoredge Head/Sharpshot Frame Magniplug I/II - Attuner - Strobe II Turbo Charger I/II - Drum Magazine - Truesights Optic-Fiber I/II - Auto-Repair Kit IV - Coiler II Maneuvers - Fire/Light/Wind
I'm sure there might be better attachment setups possibly, but this really took him out fast. Quickly switch to his dragons as he spawns them. I had the automaton help kill his little dragons to eliminate him leveling up further. -- 21:26, 19 February 2022 Apexstar
SCH Burn
SCH/BLM ML18 with Valaineral, AAEV, Star Sibyl, Cherukiki, and Monberaux Used +3 empyrean nuking set with Bunzi's Rod (R10) and Ammurapi Shield. Forgot to put up storm. Immanence SC to Fusion, apply Luminohelix II, then burst with fire. Went down easy as pie. Just make sure to stand at 20 yalms to avoid TP moves. Arkevorkhat (talk) 09:18, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
