Background/History
Zlatorog was a legendary white buck. He was said to reside in the heights of Mount Triglav. The legend of Zlatorog was well-known throughout Slovenia, as well as the Austrian Carinthi. Zlatorog had golden horns, and his name literally translates to "Gold Horn". He was said to guard a treasure hidden in the mountaintop garden. It was said that a greedy hunter came and shot Zlatorog, the blood from his body ran for miles, carving out the mountains and lakes surrounding Triglav. According to legend, it is said that the world's first Edelweiss (a Flow) grew there and gave Zlatorog his life back.
