Walk of Echoes Weapons are a series of weapons created via the Trial of the Magians system. These weapons were originally created in the exact same manner as Empyrean Weapons, with the creation process diverging at level 80. To just unlock the Empyrean Weapon Skill, these weapons use items dropped from Walk of Echoes Battlefields. Once completed, these weapons grant access to the unique weapon skills linked to Empyrean Weapons, however, they lack any Aftermath or Afterglow effects. As of the November 5, 2013 version update[1], a separate -1 weapon path of creation was implemented, requiring only the coins, Devious Dice, and Liminal Residue at larger than normal quantities; allowing players to skip camping the NMs for the Magian trials. These paths start with a level 80 -1 version of the final weapon, taken from the Splintery Chest next to the Magian Moogle on the left in the back of Ru'Lude Gardens and are strongly recommended for all players. Alternate Path (Do Not Use)

Before the November 5, 2013 version update^[2], players were required to camp NMs for Magian trials along the same path as the Empyrean Weapons, before diverging to do more Magian Trials to complete these weapons to unlock the Empyrean Weapon Skill.

• While these weapons cost fewer Coins, Devious Dice, and Liminal Residues, they also require lengthy camping of various Notorious Monsters all over Vana'diel before reaching the Level 80 trial stage.
  • Therefore, should a player seek to forge one of these weapons solely for the ability to unlock Empyrean Weapon Skills, it is recommended to do the expedited -1 weapon path and trade increased Coins, Dice, and Residue rather than camp Notorious Monsters for these weapons.
