Melee strat is perfectly viable for Kyou. Any strat, really. Having adequate healing to cover Meteor is important. Otherwise, just stack and put pets in the way for Unfaltering Bravado, or use a puppetmaster's automaton and eat it. --Safiyyah (talk) 23:36, 18 March 2019 (EDT)
Kyou is actually very simple to melee down, you just need to get around the Cursega. Monk is amazing for this fight because Mantra helps prevent Bravado wipe-outs and because it can Counter through the Avoidance Down aura. It's dangerous without the proper set but Counterstance is an incredible counter against Kyou, especially when Hundred Fists goes up.
Highly recommend the Bard stack both Dark Carol and Dark Carol II, this will help prevent Cursega from landing in the first place. If it does then Mantra will prevent a wipe.
