Talk:Plouton

Damage Penalty

Plouton takes normal physical damage until below 50%, where he gains like 99% DT vs two of the three physical damage types (blunt, pierce, slashing). He can switch when he uses the whirlwind animation. The one he's weak to sometimes makes him take double damage. I'm not sure what causes extra damage, but it might be that he chose the same damage type in succession. Unlike with magic damage, there's no penalty for using the wrong damage type. [1]

Continuing to melee him to death as THF using daggers/swords/clubs. --Jeanpaul

To add more on what Jeanpaul said. I just soloed this for the funsies as BLU/run. Under 50% unless I was just facing an extraordinary RNG, anytime slashing was hit with the -99% penalty, clubs always worked. Afterwards when clubs started dealing -99% damage, switching back to swords always worked.

Shot in the dark, but perhaps every time Plouton swaps the -99% penalty, it is inflicted towards the dominate damage type received. So if you dealt more slashing than anything else when it changes modes it penalizes that until the next mode change. Rather than actually selecting between blunt, piercing, and slashing at random. --Spicyryan (talk) 13:44, 12 August 2019 (EDT)

No magic damage strat

So it took me like forever to read that if he takes any elemental magic damage he puts his physical rotating damage type shield up.

My final successful attempt involved me (ml13 DRG) alt1 (ml5WHM) and alt 3 (ml10COR) with Yoran Oran, Joachim, and Kori Moru.

I just use cor for rolls and spam stardiver while keeping us healed up.

Under 50% gets scary moves with status affects to na away while keeping healed.

Took me 11 minutes but could’ve been faster.
