Some info for conversion:

• List of synths that an item is used in shown on an item page:
  • Template:Item Other Table >> Template: Item Used In Synth Table
  • Template: Item Other >> Template: Item Used In Synth
    • Reference pages in the wild: Saruta Orange bad, Darksteel Ingot good.
      • Here use this https://nimbletext.com/Live/-220739674/ In the top windows I pasted in the synth table from Saruta Orange. Press the calculate button in the bottom left and look at the information in the bottom window which is now the Item Used In Synth Table version of the Saruta Orange synth table. Continue pasting in the other synth tables that need to be converted.
        • Supports automated replacing of Synergy rank with a link
        • Supports presence of "Craft Level" within input data -- Alexeina (talk) 23:55, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
    • Undocumented functional change: Old table accepts "|Craft Level=" and displays it the same as "|Level=", new table only displays "|Level=".
      • Reference page: Chocobo Fltchg.
    • May want to automate replacing the Synergy rank (ex: "Amateur" or "Adept") with a link to the list of that rank's recipes (ex: Adept) while you're doing it. Some pages had that and I thought it was nice so I kept it when updating manually.
• Mob drop shown on an item page:
  • Template: Item Monster Table >> Template: Item Monster Table 2
  • Template: Item Monster >> Template: Item Monster 2
    • Reference pages: Garlaige Key bad, Hydra Fang good.
    • Functional change: "|position=" does not display in the new template. I've been moving it into "|Notes=" if it's truly relevant (often isn't, honestly, bet you can just copy over and not do anything with, information isn't lost)
      • Here use this https://nimbletext.com/Live/-947555964/ You can paste the Item Monster Table into the top window for each table that needs to be converted.

• Haven't touched any of these these myself, but the Item Despoil tables eventually:
  • Template: Item Despoil Table >> Template: Item Stolen Table, with Template: Item Monster >> Template: Item Stolen
  • Template: Item Despoil Table 2 >> Template: Item Stolen Table, with Template: Item Despoil 2 >> Template: Item Stolen
• While I've got your attention, Template:Equipment Ability Modified really sucks and should be expanded or replaced:
  • Look at Dual Wield, then look at Movement Speed#Equipment Bonuses - one, they shouldn't have to do that by hand, and two, it's way better!
  • Proposal: Create Equipment Ability Modified 2, same parameters as the first one plus three more, "Job", "Level", and "Effect" (last name can be anything, no idea) to look like the Movement Speed table. Adding the additional columns means you don't even have to change anything en masse.

Is the automated conversion of deprecated tables still happening someday? If not, I can go back to doing some of it by hand, I certainly don't mind, just don't want to duplicate effort. -Staplerguy (talk) 16:58, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
