General Notes
  • Apkallu within Treasures of Aht Urhgan areas have a zone-wide enmity system. Where players murdering poor Apkallu cause them to increase in what can be referred to as "Apkallu Hate". This does not apply to Apkallu outside of ToAU, such as Abyssea.
    • Each zone has its own Apkallu enmity.
While hate will diminish slowly over time, the more apkallus players defeat the more their behavior changes:
  • Starting off with Yawn only as a TP move, after just a few kills of their green feathered friends they will begin upgrading to more agressive moves such as Beak Lunge.
  • By the time they are using Wing Slap, they will no longer use Yawn.
Eventually they will become aggressive towards any players walking by where they are normally only passive.
Damage will begin to reduce until becoming nearly nothing
Their rate of double attack and counter will increase the more apkallus players defeat.
Enmity eventually becomes erratic as they begin changing targets to any playing casting magic. Even if the spell is not completed.
The final stage of hate also sees Apkallu running away like Qiqirns to link their friends.
  • It is unknown how the NPC Apkallu function. They can be fed via trading large fish (such as Ahtapot icon.png Ahtapot or Veydal Wrasse icon.png Veydal Wrasse), but do not all accept fish, and the size may matter.
  • When accepting a fish they begin to follow the player around, but the implications of this is also unlcear.
The NPC can change into a normal foe if enough Apkallu are defeated.

Lore

A variety of sea bird that lives in flocks on Near Eastern islands. On dry land, Apkallu only waddle about on their short legs, but the ocean is a different story. They propel themselves through the water with finlike wings at high speeds, enabling them to catch fish. In the Near East, the Apkallu are a protected species and are referred to as "The Sages of the Sea." Perhaps that is why Apkallu do not fear people and behave in a friendly manner. However, angering an Apkallu is not recommended. [1]

The Inguza are a subspeces of Apkallu once thought to be extinct, but were recently rediscovered at Marjami Ravine in the East Ulbuka Territory.
