Guide by Batcher of Asura

NOTE: THIS GUIDE WAS CREATED WITH NEW PLAYERS IN MIND WHO DO NOT HAVE VETERAN PLAYERS TO ASSIST THEM - THERE ARE BETTER GEAR CHOICES FOR NEW 119 CHARACTERS SUCH AS ESCHA ABJURATION ARMOR - FOLLOWING THIS TO THE END IS THE REAL PRIZE OF x12 OF EACH REM'S TALE CHAPTERS!

This guide is basically your "Fast Track to 119" guide.

The following guide will assist you in completing a set of Records of Eminence quests that were introduced in the May 2016 Update. These quests will award you with various items and gear that will help your fresh level 99 reach item level 119 as quickly as possible.

Pre-Requisites

Note: If you’ve never done a single RoE objective in your leveling up to 99…aside from being impressed, I highly recommend you unlock them now: Records of Eminence (Quest).

Before you can begin the intermediate quests, you will need to accomplish a few basic RoE quests. Specifically, you will need to complete the following Basic Quests located under Tutorial>Basics:

  • First Step Forward
  • Heal Without Using Magic
  • Vanquish One Enemy
  • Call Forth an Alter Ego
  • Alter Ego: Valaineral
  • Alter Ego: Mihli Aliapoh
  • Alter Ego: Tenzen
  • Alter Ego: Adelheid
  • Alter Ego: Joachim
  • All For One
    • Follow the text description provided to complete these. They are very self-explanatory.

Upon completion of All For One, the intermediate category should appear under the Tutorial section. You will need to complete 1 quest at a time. Every time you complete a quest, a new one will appear here so it is important to check this area every time you complete a quest:

Achieve Level 99

Simple and immediately completed if you are already level 99. Simply accept the quest and it will reward you with 5 Kupon A-PK109 which will allow you to get a FULL set of item level 109 Adoulin armor from the Dealer Moogle.

It is highly recommended that players who are newly 99 immediately head to Eastern Adoulin (F-7) and obtain their first item level gear from Vesca and Craggy Bluff. Purchasing this new gear will require a sum of Bayld. If you do not yet have any, Sparks of Eminence merchants will allow you to convert stored Copper Vouchers for the necessary currency. This gear will be your best starting 119 option, making most of the potential gear rewards from the first several Intermediate RoE obsolete. As such, the rewards from this quest can be safely thrown onto the floor.

Vesca:
Gorney Armor Set +1
Shneddick Armor Set +1
Weatherspoon Armor Set +1

Craggy Bluff:
Homestead Cesti
Homestead Dagger
Homestead Blade
Homestead Claymore
Homestead Labrys
Homestead Scythe
Homestead Lance
Homestead Wand
Homestead Staff
Homestead Scepter
Homestead Bow
Homestead Bowgun
Homestead Flute
Homestead Gun
Senkutanto
Senkuto
Suppa Shuriken

An Eminent Scholar

Collect 2000 sparks of eminence from completing various RoE quests.

If you did the pre-requisites above and did not spend them, you should have enough to complete this quest. Speak to one of the RoE NPC’s to complete this quest:

This will reward you with a Mog Kupon W-EMI which will allow you to acquire 1 item lvl 117 Eminence Weapon from the Dealer Moogle. If you are already in possession of any weapons from Craggy Bluff, then this reward can be safely tossed onto the floor.

An Eminent Scholar 2

Collect 4,000 sparks of eminence from completing various RoE quests.

As stated before, if you did the other quests, you should have at least 1,500 sparks. If you want to collect sparks quickly, then my recommendation would be to navigate to Tutorial>Basic and complete the various quests under Basics, Level Cap Increase, Storage Expansion, and the various Quest categories as you should have completed a fair bit of these through your adventure to level 99.
If you still do not have enough, navigate to Combat (Wide Area)> Combat (General) and pick up the various Vanquish Multiple Enemies, Deal Damage, Total Damage, and Weaponskill quests as well as the quests in Combat (Region) > Combat (Zone) (the quest depends on which zone you choose) and just kill things until you have the right amount of sparks.

Once done, speak to the RoE NPC’s again. This will reward you with a Mog Kupon A-EMI which will allow you to acquire 1 item lvl 117 Eminence Armor piece from the Dealer Moogle. Again, if you have already obtained item level 119 armor from Vesca as suggested above, these rewards can also safely be thrown away.

An Eminent Scholar 3

Collect 6,000 sparks of eminence from completing various RoE quests.

Same as above. This will reward you with a Mog Kupon A-EMI which will allow you to acquire an additional item lvl 117 Eminence Armor piece from the Dealer Moogle. You can get any additional piece here. Yet again, the 117 reward will be inferior to your new weapon from Craggy Bluff, so send this reward to the Recycle Bin at your leisure.

Always Stand on 117

Reach a total item level of 117.

If you have been following recommendations already given, then you will be easily above item level 117 right away. Flag the Quest while wearing your new armor and weapons with an average item level of 117+ and speak to the RoE NPC for your reward.

You will be awarded the cipher of Koru-Moru. Koru-Moru is an invaluable support trust who can provide Haste II, Dia III, minor healing, and other buffs/debuffs. If your main job is Corsair or Ranger, however, you may find Koru-Moru a pain as he will give these jobs Flurry II instead of Haste II.

Taming the Wilds

Successfully complete a Wildskeeper Reive.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it. With your current gear, soloing any one of the Naakuals will pose a significant challenge. Fortunately, should you fail you can re-enter after the purchase of another entry Key Item and pick up where the NM's hit points left off. Other players may also participate in the battlefield at any time. This occurs most commonly during Wildskeeper Reive Campaigns. Beginning will require a fair bit of Bayld to get the appropriate Key Item to participate and will also require that you be able to REACH the Reive, which is a bit of a tutorial in it of itself. The guide will do its best to lay it down for you here:

In order to participate in the Wildskeeper Reive, you will need to purchase a Key Item from Dimmian in Eastern Adoulin (F-6). It will cost around 15,000 Bayld (If you have done very little in Adoulin, it will lower as fame increases) and is a one-time use.

Once you’ve got the appropriate Key Item, you now have to be able to actually reach the fight. Each of the monsters listed above resides in one of the Seekers of Adoulin zones.
Luckily, there are Home Points in front of each of the battle areas, so the “run” is a one-time thing. For the most part, in order to be able to traverse the zones you will require certain Survival Skill key items to defeat the Colonization Reives or traverse the terrain. The Key Items are as follows:

If you want to acquire these KI’s and get the home point for each Wildskeeper Reive in one go, this is how I would go about it (I won’t mention it in the guide, but touch every biouvac at any frontier station you come across):

  • Note: If you are running Windower, this cutscene will cause you to crash. Shutdown, relaunch without it, and complete the cutscene.
  • Even if you crash, you will have the required "Fragmenting" key item, but speaking to Traiffeaux again will retrigger the cutscene and likely the crash as well.

And you’re done! now you need to take a long break and then come back and wait for people to do one of them so you can complete the quest. 😐

  • Typically people will only farm Achuka, Colkhab, and Tchakka for their HP Bayld or items, but during certain event campaigns SE will increase the incentive and lower the respawn time and entry cost of the Wildskeeper Reives. This is your best chance of doing these without the help of friends. Simply shout a few times for people and you may get a small group to go take on one of the remaining three if you wish to.

Keep in mind you only need to complete any single one of these Wildskeeper Reives though. Completion of any Record of Eminence Quests for Wildskeeper Reives grants you additional capacity point bonus of 3%.

Completion of this objective will award you with Kupon AW-WK. It is not recommended that any main armor pieces or weapons are redeemed with this Kupon, as they are item level 115 and inferior to your current Bayld +1 gear. Most of the accessories are also dated, though some such as Friomisi Earring and Barataria Ring may be useful for a new player.

Skirmisher: Rala Waterways

Defeat 10 monsters in Rala Waterways Skirmish.

This is the regular Skirmish, not Alluvion Skirmish. Collect one of each of the 3 following items to assemble a Simulacrum (can be bought in the auction house):

  • Faithful torso (1-5, doesn’t matter which)
  • Faithful legs (1-5, doesn’t matter which)
  • Rala visage (1-5, doesn’t matter which)

Trade the three items to Oston in Eastern Adoulin @ (G-8). (If he doesn’t accept them, make sure you have 1 of each item and make sure you talk to him and his wife right next to him, it should work after). You will receive a key item. Use the biouvac next to the goddess statue and warp to the enigmatic device in Rala Waterways. If you do not have this warp…

You will now be transported into the skirmish. Fairly simple, summon your Trusts and then click on the device in front of you to teleport to the skirmish area. Make sure all your trusts re-appear and then run around and defeat 10 monsters. For now, we can go ahead and ignore the actual objective of the skirmish, but if you want to complete it, more power to you. Just make sure you defeat 10 monsters. Once done, go ahead and warp out of the skirmish.

You will be awarded a Mog Kupon W-SRW which will allow you to acquire an item level 119 Rala Waterways Skirmish Weapon (+2) from the Dealer Moogle.

It may be becoming clear by looking at these weapons that not all 119 gear is created equal. Skirmish Weapons may be augmented through a randomized system which often requires a significant number of materials to achieve the desired result. With rare exception, none of these weapons, even after perfect augmentation, will be competitive with your Homestead weapon from Craggy Bluff.

Skirmisher: Cirdas Caverns

Defeat 10 monsters in Cirdas Caverns Skirmish.

This is the regular Skirmish, not Alluvion Skirmish. Collect one of each of the 3 following items to assemble a Simulacrum (can be bought in the auction house):

  • Faithful torso (1-5, doesn’t matter which)
  • Faithful legs (1-5, doesn’t matter which)
  • Cirdas visage (1-5, doesn’t matter which)

Same process as above. Trade the items to Oston and then warp to the enigmatic device in Cirdas which you should have acquired if you followed my guide.
You will be awarded a Mog Kupon W-SCC which will allow you to acquire an item level 119 Cirdas Caverns Skirmish Weapon (+2) from the Dealer Moogle.

Skirmisher: Yorcia Weald

Defeat 10 monsters in Yorcia Weald Skirmish.

This is the regular Skirmish, not Alluvion Skirmish. Collect one of each of the 3 following items to assemble a Simulacrum (can be bought in the auction house):

  • Faithful torso (1-5, doesn’t matter which)
  • Faithful legs (1-5, doesn’t matter which)
  • Yorcia visage (1-5, doesn’t matter which)

Same process as above. Trade the items to Oston and then warp to the enigmatic device in Yorcia Weald which you should have acquired if you followed my guide.

This one is more of a defense skirmish…so I recommend just waiting where you spawn to kill mobs that reach you. You will be awarded a Mog Kupon A-SYW which will allow you to acquire an item level 119 Skirmish Armor piece from the Dealer Moogle.

I highly recommend, for the purposes of acquiring a full 119 set, to go for the gloves/legs/feet for now.

Repelling an Ambuscade

Complete an Ambuscade event.

You have a few options here. You can either get in a group and do this or you can complete a VERY EASY Ambuscade solo with Trusts. It should not pose a problem considering the gear you have acquired thus far.

Instructions on how to participate in ambuscade are here.

You will be awarded a Mog Kupon I-AF109 which will allow you to acquire 12 of EACH Rem's Tale chapter (1-10) from the Dealer Moogle!

Artifact Reforger

Reforge an artifact armor chestpiece to 109 and speak to a RoE NPC with it equipped.

So, ideally you are following this guide to gear your current lvl.99 job which is a fresh 99. If you are already geared and just looking to complete quests, you can disregard my “recommendations”.

Otherwise, go ahead and get your artifact chest piece for your job and upgrade it to 109 following the guide here: Reforged Artifact Armor.

Note: You will need to have completed the Chains of Promathia MissionThe Warrior's Path” and have spoken to Sagheera about artifact restoration.

Note2: After trading the items, you will need to wait until the next vana’diel day to get the item.

Once you get the chest piece, go ahread and also upgrade your Artifact head piece as well.

You will be awarded a Maliyakaleya Orb which will allow you to upgrade your 109 helm to 119.

Artifact Reforger 2

Reforge an artifact armor chestpiece to 119 and speak to a RoE NPC with it equipped.

Follow the exact same steps as above, except this time follow this guide: Reforged Artifact Armor +1

Since you already have the item, upgrade your Artifact head piece to 119.

A.Skirmisher: Rala Waterways

Defeat 10 monsters in Rala Waterways Alluvion Skirmish.

Follow the exact same steps from the Rala Waterways skirmish, except this time when you turn in the items for the key item you will include an Eudaemon Item (which can also be bought on the auction house).

The only thing of difference to note is that monsters will be a little stronger and you will have to contend with notorious monsters. I HIGHLY recommend avoiding the notorious monsters and just going for the 10 monster kill and warping out, your gear may not be quite at the level to accomplish this.

You will be awarded a Mog Kupon W-ASRW which will allow you to acquire an item level 119 Rala Waterways Alluvion Skirmish Weapon from the Dealer Moogle.

A. Skirmisher: Cirdas Caverns

Defeat 10 monsters in Cirdas Caverns Alluvion Skirmish.

Follow the exact same steps from the Cirdas Caverns skirmish, except this time when you turn in the items for the key item you will include an Eudaemon Item (which can also be bought on the auction house).

The only thing of difference to note is that monsters will be a little stronger and you will have to contend with notorious monsters. I highly recommend avoiding the notorious monsters and just going for the 10 monster kill and warping out, your gear may not be quite at the level to accomplish this.

You will be awarded a Mog Kupon W-ASCC which will allow you to acquire an item level 119 Cirdas Caverns Alluvion Skirmish Weapon from the Dealer Moogle.

A. Skirmisher: Yorcia Weald

Defeat 1 stronghold in Yorcia Weald Alluvion Skirmish.

When you turn in the items for the key item you will include an Eudaemon Item (which can also be bought on the auction house or with Login Points).

This one is going to be tough. Chances are you won’t be able to pull this one off alone. I recommend you find a group for this. You need to defeat a stronghold to complete the quest.

  • It can be done soloed though by using a Eudaemon Sash item to summon Kirin to destroy the stronghold as detailed in this video.

Alternatively you may complete it without a Sash: Convert one copper voucher into obsidian fragments.

  • Go in; feed the book the 1000 obsidian fragments, then use it to summon five colibri and a crab.
  • Go around killing Escalents if you want; your gear at that point should be fine.
  • Land the last hit on the Stronghold.
  • Use your key, claim loot, head out.

You will be awarded a Mog Kupon A-ASYW which will allow you to acquire an item level 119 Alluvion Skirmish Armor piece from the Dealer Moogle.

In Conclusion

If you’ve been following my guide, you should now have:

  • 119 Artifact Headpiece
  • 119 Artifact Chestpiece
  • 119 Hands,Glove, or Feet From Skirmish
  • 119 Weapons

I would recommend getting a new 119 Alluvion Skirmish Armor piece that you have not already acquired so hands/gloves/feet depending on what you got during the first yorcia skirmish. This should leave you with just 1 piece not at 119.

  • Pieces may be augmented with the stones from this event. Which is also detailed on the Alluvion Skirmish Armor page. These will last you until obtaining better gear, but allow you to start making your way into harder content.

Aside from this, Ambuscade Armor will be another great way for players to improve their power against harder content.

Those are all the quests! At this point you should be pretty stacked! I would recommend upgrading your final piece of artifact gear to 119 so you can get full item lvl.119! Then you can participate in the real Final Fantasy XI! good luck!
