CatsEyeXI Content/Wings Era Warrior

From FFXI Wiki

Introduction

The Wings Era Warrior (WEW) was announced November 4th 2023 with the merger of the WingsXI server into CatsEyeXI. It was released on November 17th 2023. Wings players display a unique Caithsith icon next to their name.

The Wings Era Warrior game mode aims to provide a classic "Era"-style character mode within the CatsEyeXI server.

Wings Era Warrior is founded on the following principles:

  • Group-based progression with party based leveling, meriting, questing, and mission completion (at their original level caps).
  • "Era" forms of travel retained to provide immersion and make the world feel connected.
  • Maintaining a classical style feel, framework, and sense of accomplishment inside a custom content server. Along with additional QoL benefits that aim to preserve the integrity of the mode.
  • The inability of using Trust NPCs or grouping with anyone utilizing them.
  • Obtaining Experience and Limit Points at the rate set during Wings of the Goddess.

Players looking for a quick visual breakdown between the game modes on CatsEyeXI may reference the comparison chart on the main CE page.

Restrictions

Wings-Era Warrior is designed to provide an experience close to classic era plus the addition of CatsEye's vast amount of custom content. To facilitate era style gameplay, Wings-Era characters will have the following restrictions:

  • Login points can only be exchanged for Wings-Era items.
    • ACEs and WEWs have different Login Point redemption options.
  • Gobbie Mystery Box is disabled.
  • Records of Eminence is disabled.
  • Only conventional EXP rings are enabled.
  • EXP is reduced to 75 era accurate rates, but receives an EXP chain bonus detailed below.
  • Mounts, Survival Guides, and Unity Warps are disabled. Home Points are available on a 30-minute cooldown.
    • This ensures that the player must travel on foot or by airship, chocobo, unlocked outposts or boat to progress through the game.
  • Fields of Valor are enabled, but subsequent completions reduce EXP gained from them significantly.
  • While Level Sync is available at 10+. Gear scaling is disabled (Until the WEW completes LB5), and any equipped gear over the sync's level will be automatically unequipped.
    • Note that Gear scaling is useful to have _nothing_ in a slot, but if you wear gear below your current, synced level, it loses all bonuses that aren't base attributes. Those base attributes are then reduced significantly even 1 level below the required level of the gear.
  • Synthesis and Fishing skill-ups are era accurate rates and amounts.
  • Combat skill-ups are set to era accurate rates.

Registration

Players who wish to participate in Wings-Era Warrior mode must register a new account on the website.

Travel

All player types on the server move at the default retail movement speed of 125%. Compared to the old 100% of strict "Classic"-style servers.

Wings Era Warriors are unable to use Mounts as well as Home Point or Survival Guide warps. They may also only use the custom "Experience Guide" book warps as a level 75 job.

Wings Era Warriors will also be able to utilize warp items such as the Nexus Cape icon.png Nexus Cape, Norg Earring icon.png town warp earrings from the custom fish gutting NPC Marceo, the Tidal Talisman icon.png Tidal Talisman, Moogle Cap icon.png Moogle Cap, HQ Swim Wear to warp to Bibiki Bay - Purgonorgo Isle, etc. All are Era-accurate warp items.

Wings Players that complete part of the Winged Resurgence story line are granted a WEW-exclusive bonus to travel the world: Talaria icon.png Talaria. (Note that there's a custom adjustment to these boots to give higher speed if you have Tartarus Platemail and to apply the buff automatically if you're in town)

Finally, Homepoint warps are available from any town to any Homepoint that the player has registered.

Content and Grouping

Unlike the Crystal Warrior game mode, Wings Era Warriors are able to party with Accelerated CatsEye (ACE, a.k.a "QOL") accounts. The two types may trade each other without restrictions and utilize the same Auction House.

When grouping together:

  • Each type maintains their respective EXP gain rates.
    • This makes WEWs great level sync targets for cross-mode play.
  • ACEs will be synced down to area or battle limit caps despite normally being unrestricted in them.
    • Players will need to be grouped in a party before a level cap for an instance or they will be unable to invite.

Experience Points

Wings Era Warriors receive an additional bonus to EXP chains at Level 75:

Chain# EXP
0 +0%
1 +5%
3 +15%
4 +20%
5~8 +30%
12~13 +90%
25+ +150%

Unique Systems

Maximum Merit Points

Meriting "Maximum Merit Points" inside the HP/MP merit category will grant an experience/merit points boost to level 75 WEW characters. This boost will only apply to level 75 jobs and can be increased to a total maximum of 100% exp/merit boost. Each merit level applied will increase the exp/merit boost as follows:

Levels 1-5 = 5% per level (25%) Levels 6-10 = 6% per level (30%) Levels 11-15 = 9% per level (45%)

Gil for EXP

Wings Era players receive gil proportional to the amount of EXP they earn. This caps at 500,000 a week, and resets on Sunday after Japanese Midnight.

  • For example defeating an even match monster will reward the player with 100 gil.
  • The weekly ratio and max can be increased by redeeming DQ chests from Golilox in lower jeuno

The intention of this is to help provide a greater balance balance to the economic mobility of Wings characters.

Dedication buff QoL

Due to the lower Exp per kill, Exp Rings with +50%, +75%, etc and high maximum bonus can take a very long time to utilize for WEW. Thus, they gain +150% from the Dedication buff (still limited by the maximum bonus for the effect to fall off) when at Exp chain 25 or higher.

Celennia Memorial Library

Aside from the various easter eggs in the AWR storyline, and a few books in this library that pay homage to WingsXI and its players... there are a few key benefits from using the Library as your hub as a WEW:

  • Access to !chef and !mog commands
  • Wings C.A. provides quick teleport access to Jeuno, your home city in past and present, and Aht Urhgan
  • Calico Jones provides Adept Fisherman with a quick warp to Norg.
  • Spicy Traveller (Domain Invasion), Greeter Moogle (Login_Campaigns), and the Librarian (Auction_House) give quick access to common CEXI activities
  • Volume 42 of the legendary book series simply titled "Synthesis" is available to provide bonuses similar to the Rusk/Macaron food.

Spatial Anomaly Usage

The Spatial Anomaly is a unique CEXI system for players who hit level 75 and Rank 10 in their Nation with a choice of substantial reward. This doesn't quite fit style of WEW, so an additional requirement is added: 110 skill in any synth craft.

This should be achievable with the help of the Synthesis book from the Library

Wardrobes

  • Wardrobe 1 is tied to Rank with the current Nation, up to 80 at rank 10
  • Wardrobe 2 is tied to Zilart missions, up to 80 after completing awakening
  • Wardrobe 3 is tied to CoP missions, up to 80 after completing Dawn
  • Wardrobe 4 is tied to ToAU missions, up to 80 after completing Ragnarok
  • Wardrobe 5 is tied to Mini-Expansions, up to 10 per 3 Mini-Expansions, as well as 1 additional per 3 key item trade-ins
  • Wardrobe 6 is tied to Synth-based crafting. 5 slots per 10 skill per craft
  • Wardrobe 7 is unlocked via various achievements. Speak to the Wings C.A. to learn more.
  • Wardrobe 8 (and W7 if W8 gets to 80 slots) are unlocked with Venture Points and Obs. Fragments. 1 slot per significant amount of currency.

Login Campaigns

Speak with any Greeter Moogle, located near the Mog House of the following areas:

FAQ

Merger FAQs
Q: What happens if my name is already taken on CatsEye?
A:  You will need to choose a new name.
Q: Will I get to keep my stuff in the merge?
A: Yes, all of your gil, items, delivery box, and so on will transfer.
      Except Linkshells will not transfer.
Q: Will there be a global LS?
A:   Yes.
Q: Will anything be lost in the merge?
A:  Character variables will change so incomplete quests and missions in progress may need to be treated as if you just started. Completed missions remain.
If problems occur please submit a ticket on Discord.
It may be prudent to take an inventory of your character just in case.
Q: Will my macros transfer?
A:  This is a manual process but it is possible.
  • Install and run the CatsEyeXI launcher
  • Navigate to create a WEW account, link your old WingsXI account (before hitting create, accounts can only be linked during creation process), and import your characters
  • Create a profile in the launcher for this new account
  • Log into the game
  • Once you have logged into the CEXI server, a folder will be made in your install path: \catseyexi\catseyexi-client\Game\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER
  • The folder will be the hex conversion of your char id (i.e. 496c would be charid 18796), which you can get from the CatsEyeXI website URL when you view your character
  • Simply paste everything from your similar folder in the WingsXI data: \WingsXI\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER
  • Again, the folders are named by the hex conversion of your character id, available by logging into the WingsXI website (or contacting a CEXI GM)
  • Know that this folder contains all your settings for that particular character, so you can always log out, delete the folder, then log back in to build it from scratch

The process to move Ashitacast XML files is a bit simpler.

  • Step one is to copy all your XML files from your WingsXI install: \WingsXI\Ashita\config\AshitaCast
  • And place them in the LegacyAC config folder: \catseyexi\catseyexi-client\Ashita\config\LegacyAC
  • Now you must load the LegacyAC plugin. This can be done by adding /load legacyac to your default.txt: \catseyexi\catseyexi-client\Ashita\scripts\default.txt
Q: What about my Ashita 3 addons? I see CatsEye runs on Ashita 4.
A:   See above for how to import LegacyAC xml configs. Similar config imports can be done for other addons, but addons/plugins written for v3 will NOT work in v4
Q: What notable content from Wings is missing, but planned on being added ASAP to CatsEye?
A: Caitsith quest, 3 mini-expansions (ACP, KDE, ASA).
Players with the 3 mini-expansions will migrate with their equipment and be able to use it, but not reobtain it until added to CEXI in the future.

General FAQs
Q: Do Wings Era Warriors exist along side the other game modes?
A:  Yes, WEWs share the same world, systems, and content as ACE characters, but do not participate in Crystal Warrior exclusive content.
Q: What are the differences between ACE, CW, and WEW?
A:  Please refer to the table on the main page.
Q: Is this really "Era"?
A:  No. The goal of WingsXI was to provide an "era" experience with small QoL. These paradigms only work with many (hundreds) of players all sharing the same goal. The CEXI server leans more on the QoL side, but WEW is intended to preserve some of the "feel" while still engaging in the faster progression and custom content.
Q: Can I send rare/ex items through the delivery box to the other characters (mules) on my WEW account?
A:  Yes, but not every rare/ex item can be sent. The same rules as retail apply where an item must be flagged to be able.
Q: I see ACE players get synced to me when participating in missions and things. Does level sync scale down equipment stats?
A:  Yes, ACEs and WEWs (but not CWs) gain equipment scaling when synced, but it is not as potent as level accurate equipment.
Q: Am I able to dual box a WEW? Can I do it with an ACE or must both accounts be a WEW?
A:  You are able to dual box, and it can be with an ACE.
Q: How do I convert my WEW character to ACE?
A:  First you must complete A Winged Resurgence, then trade Talaria and Tartarus Platemail to the Wings C.A. in Celennia Memorial Library
