Introduction
Summit of the Stars (SOTS or simply "Summit") is a weekly competitive linkshell event in CatsEyeXI where linkshells compete for supremacy by earning activity points. These points are obtained through various in-game tasks, including:
- Eliminating specific mob families
- Defeating specific Notorious Monsters
- Completing Daily Quests
- Participating in Domain Invasion
- Completing Weekly Hunts
- Undertaking Ventures
After the conquest tally each week, the linkshell with the most points earns several prizes, including:
- Access to the sanctuary of Leafallia, which has been customized with a variety of amenities
- A reward of gil or wyrm gold
- The ability to summon powerful Summit-exclusive trusts
- The ability to select global, server-wide buffs such as Treasure Hunter+, synth HQ rate+, and auto-reraise
In addition to increasing your linkshell's score, completing summit activities also adds points to your personal bank, which you can spend on a variety of prizes.
Global linkshells (e.g. "CatsEyeXI") are not eligible to participate in the SOTS competition.
Earning Points
In order to begin earning Activity Points (AP), you must complete the Summit of the Stars quest and defeat Nyx Animus.
Activity points you earn for your character are applied to the points score of the linkshell you have equipped in your #1 slot.
Players may earn up to 30,000 AP per day, and up to 70,000 AP per week. This means players must log in and complete activities at least three days per week in order to maximize their weekly contribution.
In order to earn activity points or be considered eligible for the Summit competition at all, your linkpearl equipped in slot 1 must be in your inventory. If your linkpearl is in your mog satchel, case, or other mog storage, you will not be able to earn points. |
Scaling Factor
SOTS takes into account linkshell size by using a scaling system to ensure fairness:
Scaling Factor = 20 / (10 + Number of Active Members)
The "Number of Active Members" is the number of linkshell members who have earned more than 10,000 activity points in a given week. Because of this scaling factor, if a player does not anticipate being able to contribute much to their linkshell's effort in a given week, they may use the command "!summit off" to disable earning AP and avoid being added to their linkshell's number of active members. Even with summit off, players will be able to earn points for their personal bank, which can be used to purchase rewards.
Win Streak Penalty
Linkshells who win the competition have an additional 25% penalty on their scaled points the following week. This discourages the same linkshell from winning the competition week after week. That penalty slowly decays 10% at a time week after week, until it reaches zero. Example:
- Week 1: Your linkshell wins → 25% penalty applied next week
- Week 2: You don't win → Penalty drops to 15%
- Week 3: Still no win → Penalty drops to 5%
- Week 4: Your linkshell wins → Penalty increases to 30%
If you contributed to your linkshell's victory, or contributed points to your linkshell's Summit score while they are under a win streak penalty, it means a couple of things for your character. Both of these effects last until your linkshell's win streak penalty reaches 0%.
- You will be unable to contribute to the score of any other linkshell; you are "locked in" to your winning linkshell. This is to prevent players from changing linkshells every week to maintain control of Leafallia.
- You will be able to make use of Ygnas's trust service to gain access to August or Shantotto II for a week, even if your linkshell didn't place in the top 5. See the Trust Access section to learn more.

Trust Access
Access to the powerful trusts August and Shantotto II are, for many players, the biggest draw for the Summit of the Stars competition. (Mainly August, he's insanely good.) In order to make use of these trusts, you must first purchase their Cipher from Ygnas or Ruspix for 5,000 Activity Points and trade the Cipher to the Trust NPC as you normally would.
But summoning these trusts requires players to continue to compete in the Summit competition. Here's how it works:
- If you currently have a linkshell equipped in your LS1 slot that won first place in the Summit competition last week, you will be able to summon both trusts for free at will.
- If your linkshell earned 2nd through 5th place in the Summit competition last week, you can be authorized to summon these trusts for one week (until conquest tally) with the help of Ygnas in Ru'Lude Gardens (near the mog house). Trade him an Apex, Pinnacle, or Apogee token (earned via our custom Stronghold Invasion system), and pay him some Activity Points, and he will authorize you to summon one trust of your choice until the weekly conquest reset. You can do this twice to get a week's access to both trusts. The activity points costs are as follows:
- 2nd place: 3000 AP
- 3rd place: 4000 AP
- 4th place: 5000 AP
- 5th place: 6000 AP
- If you are currently under a win streak penalty, you don't even need to have placed in the Summit competition to use Ygnas's service. The activity points cost to unlock August or Shantotto II in this case is 6000 AP.
You can get a free Apex, Pinnacle, or Apogee token (at random) from the Summit Warden (Windurst Waters (S), E-8) once every week. |
Unlocking Summit of the Stars
Players must complete the quest Summit of the Stars, which begins with Seer Soromai in Heavens Tower.
- At least one adventurer in the alliance must retrieve three "Offerings" from different Beastmen strongholds.
- Offerings location changes every in-game hour. They appear pretty much in the same area as LSB3.

- After collecting all three Offerings, adventurers must place them at the three "essences" at the top of Parradamo Tor in Attohwa Chasm to summon Nyx Animus.
- Only 1 set of offerings is needed per alliance
- The battle against Nyx Animus begins by interacting with Nyx’s Essence.
- This is an alliance-level battle, so adventurers should be fully prepared before engagement.
- Expect an hour-long fight.
- Upon defeating Nyx Animus, a vortex appears, allowing players to access Leafallia.

Ruspix (Leafallia) and Ygnas (Ru'Lude Gardens, I-10, MH entrance), allow spending Activity Points for prizes. The points spent are taken from the player's personal "wallet" and do not affect the daily cap or the points contributed to the LS.
Ygnas also serves as the CW/UCW Tele NPC to allow access back to Leafallia.
In addition to Ruspix's Activity Points shop, he also sells NM pop items for Linkshell Points. These deduct from your linkshell's current Summit score. Only shellholders, and members granted access via the linkshell management tool on the CatsEyeXI website, can spend Linkshell Points.
